BCCO Podcast 184: Tassery

Resident of the wild Berlin parties Stimulation, the Human Experiments project was born from the will to share a radical vision of techno and the meeting of two inspirations, industrial cinematic and hypnotic groove. He creates a dark, violent yet catchy universe in which dissonant sounds meet pounding rhythms. His music is both danceable and deeply gloomy, blurring the boundaries between genres. By building an atmosphere in which rhythmic hammering and hypnotic envelopes form one, he strives to generate a strange synergy that is uniquely his.

Currently based in Berlin, he tends to refine his style by taking inspiration from the more minimalist aspects of techno. It is under his other alias 'Arc:type' that he intends to fully express this other musical vision, even if the borders between the two projects are thin.

Maximus is a 25 y/o Berlin grown and based newcomer DJ. The musical enthusiasm began at a young age and continued into adolescence until now, especially djing he started in 2020. 

If you are into hypnotic sounds, you are right with Maximus sets. His driving basslines get you in a mood to forget the time. Feel the energy of fast paced minimalistic techno and groove. 

With several gigs (Club Ost/Berlin; Turm/Halle, Elipamanoke/Leipzig; …) and a livestream (Team.140) in Germany, he set the first milestones for his career in recent years.

SweetSpot's creativity break  brings you a new SweetCast from Mara Menace herself as she
collages this selection of her favorite hypnotic and groovy trax.

In addition to the harder and raw sounds that we like to play while performing, we both enjoy different varieties of hard-kicking basses. The Menace, especially, likes her music groovy and is into constant hip-shakers that create a different type of experience of and reaction to the harder shades of techno music. This set's track selection aims specifically for such consistent flow, shooting for a hypnotic feeling through a repetitive soundscape that is not interupted by harsh vocal parts. The influence of artists like Rødhåd, Marron, Fiedel and Setaoc Mass show themseves in Miss Menace's second SweetCast and reflect the drive that makes groove tracks so sexy thanks to percussion loops - connecting us with our primitive sides on a different level! 

We plan to update you with our creative flow and bring you different explorations of music in our November phase. We are also cooking up new tracks, podcasts, collaborations and artworks - get ready to taste the deliciousnesses very soon!

MarcelDune is an experimental electronic music artist based in London, UK.

Their music is created by combining modular synthesizers with analog & digital sounds in addition to field recordings (including various techniques and knowledge that have been gained from jazz studies and opera singing).

They mainly draw inspiration from street culture and the unique rawness it exhibits.

One other key element that manifests in MarcelDune’s music, is the underground culture, more specifically the people surrounding it and how they try to express their frustration, problems, and society’s oppression through music and dance.

Lacchesi, co-founder of Maison Close, has been on the rise for some time now releasing music regularly on his own imprint as well as remixing for great artists such as Darzack. He has also dropped tracks which he has worked on alongside artists such as ABSL, Francois X and Mac Declos to name just a few.

The mix is just over an hour of bouncy, abstract techno displaying quite a unique sound which we absolutely love.

@jelena666 began her journey as a DJ in 2018. Her dedication to developing her artistic mastery emerged from the incredible power she experienced on dancefloors all across Europe. 

The idea behind her selections is to combine tribal, trippy textured techno with groovy elements to firstly trigger the listener's suggestibility and secondly to plant the seed of joy in their hearts. 

She has successfully established herself in the Swiss music scene, played in the most respectable clubs in Switzerland and landed 2 important residencies over the years. One for the label "Adroit", which among other things also organizes events outside of Switzerland and the second in the very recognized club "Elysia" in Basel.

Jelena has a distinctive approach and an intense drive to develop her talent. The world will see much more of her passionate work in the future.
