The Columbian DJ and producer Felipe Gordon comes back with a sunlit new EP ‘Superimposition’ for Noire&Blanche. The eponymous track of this EP starts with a heady and imposing kick followed by a jazzy chord progression, an embodiment of house music but with a twist as are added acidic synths that make the overall refreshing and bouncy.

Back in 2019, Safe Trip delivered a much-needed reissue of Trans-4m’s previously overlooked 1992 debut album, Sublunar Oracles, an ambient house and ambient techno masterpiece from Belgian brothers Stefan and Dimitri Van Elsen. Now the label has dived into their archives again to present an expanded edition of their sought-after 12” single Dencity, complete with a previously unheard cut.

While the original album version of ‘Dencity’ was a meandering journey through spacey ambient house full of ultra-dreamy ambient textures twinkling melodies and languid deep house grooves, the alternative takes originally featured on the 1992 12” were far more club-focused and dancefloor-ready.

This new edition boasts both of those gloriously kaleidoscopic and tactile revisions in freshly remastered form. There’s the EP opening ‘Urban Tribe Mix’, a bolder and heavier take featuring crunchier, weightier drums, gently psychedelic electronics and New Jersey garage style organ stabs, and the ‘Club Mix’, where saucer-eyed chords, echoing bleeps and energetic piano riffs help drive the track forwards.

Over on side B there’s a chance to check an alternative version of the Sublunar Oracles album version, as well as previously unreleased track ‘Butterflies’. Recorded during the same period as the album at the Van Elsen brothers’ home studio in Antwerp, it’s a starry, slowly unfurling ambient delight in which waves of attractive, undulating synthesizer sounds, yearning chords and deep space electronics dance away atop a shuffling, soft-touch drum machine beat. While it may have been shelved way back in 1992, it’s every bit as immersive and tactile as anything on Sublunar Oracles.

The cafe was quiet as the rain poured heavily from the dark, murky clouds outside. The flickering neon sign was the only sign that there might be any life inside the old place yet still the coffee was hot and the smiles of the old workers were aplenty.

For him, there was a magnetic charm to this old place. It was not beautiful, to others it might seem uninspired, uninviting and cold. However, he'd sat here for many years, in the morning, noon and at night. He'd always be back, always come later again and the same kind souls would wave and welcome him in kindly from the cold out there.

Places like this were of a rare and dying breed - the city slickers had pushed them out long ago, god knows how they managed to keep the lights on, the tiles clean and the spirits high. Perhaps this place ran upon those good spirits alone, it might have to be enough one day...

Frantzvaag is set to release a debut LP on the newly launched Smallville Records label offshoot, Fuck Reality. This is a deep, pensive affair comprised of dubbed out disco grooves and precise, melancholy deep house at its finest. One to lose yourself in in the headphones, beneath the clouds, beneath the sun, whatever works.

Dam Swindle are back on Heist and coming in hot with a series of 3 releases in 2022 to celebrate a decade of Dam Swindle. The aptly titled ‘Keep on Swindling’ EP’s form a collection of classic DS tracks that have been re-engineered and remixed as well as new material from the Dutch duo. The first EP features two new originals, a stellar rework of ‘The Break Up’ by rising UK jazz star Emma-Jean Thackray and a 2022 mix of their 2014 hit: ‘64 Ways’ featuring Mayer Hawthorne.  
 
The EP kicks off with ‘Body Control’: A fresh DS production that has all the elements in there to become their next club hit. A tight garage groove smothered in congas forms the basis for this track along with its deep repetitive bassline. It’s the musical elements that make this track really stand out though. There’s swinging offbeat synth hits, sample chops, lush pads and vibrant arpeggios building momentum for dancers to lose their sh*t (or their body control) every time this track is played. 
 
‘The Break Up’, originally part of the first release on Heist back in 2013 has only been remixed once in that same year by Max Graef. The track now gets a full make over courtesy of the amazingly talented Emma-Jean Thackray, who has been playing the original in her sets for a long time. Her version is loaded with newly recorded parts – vocals and horns included - and gives the original an amazing live jazz twist. This remix gave us some serious goosebumps when we first heard it. It’s in one word: essential!  
 
On the flip, the duo offers a 2022 mix of their track ’64 Ways’ featuring Mayer Hawthorne. ‘64 Ways’ was originally released as part of their album Boxed Out in 2014 and was their first venture into vocal collaborations. None other than Mayer Hawthorne -a serious house-head himself- came over to Amsterdam to record the track and it was an instant hit. Now, with some new engineering done, the guys have dusted off their old project to great effect. The 2022 mix makes this track sound warm, powerful and well rounded, giving new life to this DS classic.  
 
The final track of the EP is ‘All I want’; the second production on this record that sees Dam Swindle deliver a track that has ‘summer festival’ written all over it; synth stabs, diva vocals, acid lines and a huge breakdown included.  
 
The ‘Keep on Swindling’ EP is the first outing of Dam Swindle in their anniversary year. A year that will be filled with curated events, headline shows, fan specials and most importantly, a lot of new music. As always, enjoy the music and we hope to see you on the dancefloor.
