The established heavy hitting outfit, Nicepeople, kick things off for 2022 in true style. Dropping early next year is their latest slice of house heaven, the package comes in the shape of three originals from Gourment De Funk, and a nostalgic "Chicago Boogie'' trip with the legendary Roy Davis Jr. Sounds good already, right?

Title track "A Love Supreme" initiates proceedings on the A side, slick percussion teases you into a journey of funk bliss, warm and infectious bass taking you on a cruise, with feel good strings all working in sweet harmony to make this a must have record. On a more driven tip is "The Way You Move" another animated groove experience, and boasts some smooth sax action for the fans amongst us.

Roy Davis Jr’s "Chicago Boogie" remix of "The Way You Move" is an upbeat number for the peak time dance floors out there. The irresistible bass totally takes over your movements, you can not help but to move to a track like this, the veteran producer certainly not letting us down with this one, fitting the ethos of the label, and yet crammed with the signature sound we have all come to adore from Roy over the years. Closing off the EP is the "Never Lost (GDF Morning Dub)" seductive deep house for the early morning dancers. Crisp hi-hats brushing by as you feel yourself swallowed up into the clouds. One for the dreamers.

Nicepeople never seem to take the pedal off the gas, consistently pushing their brand and propelling top shelf house music from an array of inspiring producers of old and new, and they begin next year exactly as they mean to go on.

VARIOUS ARTISTS - Unreleased 2020 - 2022 pt.1 (2x12" snippet)

This was my first set at the interim home of Momentum, on the gorgeous Verboten sound system. Momentum - Rite of Wednesdays is a deep underground party that defined New York City's vibe of the unlimited multi genre deep techno/house scene the past 6+ years. Today I played a Detroit inspired set with selections from Moodymann and many more. There is nothing like a dance floor full of expansive minds and hearts who love multiple genres and tonight, the vibe was infectious. Many thanks to all who elevated the experience. Also, I too was drenched in sweat by the end :) Enjoy!

@joeynegro continues to cement his place in the annals of disco‘s rich history with the release of a new version of his hit record ‘Must Be The Music’: a track that has been given a complete overhaul from its original incarnation.

Originally released in 1999 and featuring Taka Boom (sister of Chaka Khan) on vocals, ‘Must Be The Music’ was a hit in every sense of the word. Released by the Subliminal label, it was a one of the rare records to make the transition from club mainstay to genuine pop hit, eventually breaking into the top 10 of the UK singles chart.

Now completely reworked by Joey Negro himself, the record has been totally transformed and given a new lease of life as a shimmering disco anthem in the vein of disco demigods Chic and Change. 

“The only thing that remains from the original record is the chorus backing vocals. All the drums, music and verse vocals from Dianne Charlamagne are new. The original sounds a little dated to me now: it’s too fast and has that filtered sound that worked in the 90s and still seems to find favour in some quarters, but for me is tired.

“Because it was a hit I often get asked to play it when I DJ, so I thought it would be cool to do a radically different remake my own song, produce a new version I could play in my sets alongside original disco and the new music I’m making now.” Joey Negro

This new version of ‘Must Be The Music’ is taken from the forthcoming Joey Negro album Produced With Love. Described by DJ Mag as “his latest masterpiece…this is feel-good, love-inspired classic disco for the 21st Century” and as “sunshine in aural form” by Mixmag, this is only the second ever Joey Negro album to be released – and the first for more than 20 years. The overwhelming majority of music included was newly recorded: a real rarity when it comes to modern disco and indicative of the level of care and attention that has been poured into the project.

Selectress Iriela launched her multi-genre career on the legendary drive time reggae music program, "Rockers" on 88.9FM WERS Boston in 1996. For more information on her roots go to www.iriela.com. Through her in depth interviews and on-air style as one of the first female disc jockeys / producers on the scene, Ms. La's vibe encompasses everything from house music played at the best clubs of New York City to reggae music -and all vinyl sets like the two night affair she recently played for legendary Toots and the Maytals at the Brooklyn Bowl - to Afro-beat, techno, funk, disco, hip hop and more. Iriela crafts each set with the love of a spiritual healer. She spent her earlier days/nights at the original House of Blues apprenticing in live mixing / sound and DJing/ MCing shows for the likes of Burning Spear, Yellowman and Groove Collective. Honoring anthems for revolution infusing the rhythmic sounds to move the body and soul Iriela spins on behalf of her conscious entertainment group, Second World (www.second-world.com) which itself was inspired from her love of music and her work in sustainable international development. The mission: to bridge the gap between the so-called "First" and "Third" world, through the power of media production, musical events and fairly traded art empowerment to uplift the poorest of the poor and edu-tain all. Today, Selectress Iriela rocks both underground house music after hours events to large arenas. Fresh off several tours - from Detroit to Costa Rica, to Berlin, Egypt, India, Peru to Los Angeles... Iriela represents #SecondWorldMovement as a talent scout, label head and producer extraordinaire. She even recently appeared on the Arsenio Hall Show to talk about her first feature film work in progress, "Reggae Revolution" which features interviews with a who's who of the genre including everyone from Sly and Robbie, Mad Professor to Mutabaruka. 

Iriela opened for legends such as the Wailers, Burning Spear, and Bunny Wailer, as well as contemporary artists like Luciano and Sizzla and Ethiopian pop star Aster Aweke along with a recent addition to the Chaka Khan opening lineup, and has appeared on the same bill alongside legendary Louie Vega, DJ Spinna and others. Iriela has worn the hat of producer and on-air personality creating the Universal Vibration events, Second World Sessions, and Global Groove series. Iriela has been heard on the airwaves of IRIE FM in Kingston Jamaica to outdoor dance halls in the hills of Maroon rebel settlement, Accompong, which she says is her proudest moment to date. Iriela rocked a range of venues like The Roxy in Boston, Nell's and CBGBs, Cielo, LAVO, Analog and Sullivan Room in NYC and as a  member of the Toneburst Collective Iriela thrives on constantly breaking down barriers and redefining our parameters of sound/music categorization.

Iriela's show is named after her organization Second World, and is recorded in New York City.  

Iriela's No Sleep (Till NYC) debuted at #4 on the Traxsource Afro House Essentials charts and she has several upcoming projects in the works with Amp Fiddler and Ali Shaheed of Tribe Called Quest.
