Polarity is the second single from emerging artist SelfDivision, a Sydney- based electronic singer, songwriter and producer.

“Polarity began as a demo in 2022, at a time when I was exploring the polarities within myself and my relationships. I noticed the presence of a feminine (yin) and masculine (yang), and the opposite nature of these dynamics. I compared this to the duality seen in the natural world, these polarities creating harmony, instead of conflict. 

I collaborated with DnB producer Royalston, who developed contrast between the A and B sections to emphasise the polarity written into the song; a call and response between the vocals in the verse and synth in the chorus.”

A sensitive trance track, lulling and undulating the listener into accepting the end of a relationship as "love slips away". A call to dance, to move on and accept endings; now "throw it all away".

SelfDivision is the moniker of Jessica Fitzgibbon;  singer, songwriter & producer hailing from Sydney, Australia. With her haunting voice and hypnotic melodies, she blends electronica and trip-hop, exploring themes that interweave the natural world and relationships. Her music has drawn comparisons to influential artists such as Portishead, Massive Attack and Bjork.

A classically trained vocalist and musician, SelfDivision’s musical journey began at a young age and has taken her through a variety of genres, from classical music and opera, to alternative rock and jazz. Her influences are eclectic, with Radiohead, Nick Cave, PJ Harvey and FKA Twigs just a few of the artists she cites as favourites.
