None other than DJ ojo, an extremely talented producer, DJ and good pal. The mix teeeters the line perfectly between dubbed out enjoyable home listening and slightly more gritty, club leaning tracks, expertly put together. Really nice tackle inside on this, give it a whirl. 
We also caught up with Joe for a little chat, check it below 

AM: Ojo! What have you been up to recently?

Yooo fellas, been rather busy, spinning various plates of music/work/life and trying not to get overwhelmed by all the fun stuff going on and killer music constantly being released! 

AM: How and where did you record the mix? Was there a theme or anything behind it?

Recorded it at home on my gorgeous set-up, shout out to my housemate Jacob @ Simpliply (link below) for building the hottest DJ units going.  I played a mixture of records and digis. 

In terms of theme, I guess I just wanted to try and reflect the kinda stuff that you guys have been promoting and releasing with AM. So it’s full of pretty dubbed out selections, music that walks the line between heavy and light, eerie and comforting, smooth and abrasive. 

AM: you use certain external effects / pedals within your mixing (and this mix) - is this a new thing/used frequently? Do you feel it lets you express yourself more in your djing?

Yep just recently treated myself to a delay unit, after much deliberation I chose the Benidub Digital Echo (link below) which I think sounds ridiculously nice, is easy to use, and also is electronically designed to work with mixers and other gear, rather than just guitars. Big tip!

Definitely helps in a variety of ways, whether you just want a bit of hands on improvisation whilst playing an individual track, or especially when you wanna create an interesting or exciting transition between tracks. Just gotta be careful not to overdo it cos it is very very fun!

AM: You really do have a style within your production already, very intricate/delicate/dubbed - tell us a bit about it and also your set up?

Kind of you to say, I’m definitely getting closer to the kinda sound/feeling that I imagine, although there’s a long way to go still. I work mostly just in Ableton, using a mix of samples, soft synths, and fucked up FX plugins. My ‘process’ (if you can call it that) can probably best be described as chaotic. Need to work on that…

AM: What’s next for you in 2022? Gigs/releases/food/trips/anything

No gigs of my own on the horizon, although I am v much available for booking so promoters HMU ;~) I’m currently working on a couple of new releases, one which will be my debut EP, coming out on a really dope label, if/when I manage to get it finished…

Otherwise I’ll be doing plenty of music tourism round the UK, eating dank food everywhere I go, and gazing out the window of cross-country trains. Got a few festivals booked in, particularly looking forward to Meakusma in Belgium, looks like a lovely mix of fun and experimental sounds. 

Until then, looking forward to having my heart warmed by seeing various talented friends continue to shell it at clubs n festivals! Peace x
