This is the arguably the most indispensable collection of hadith related to the Prophet’s blessed biography (Allah bless him and give him peace). It was compiled by the eminent hadith scholar, Imam Abu ‘Isa al-Tirmidhi less than three centuries after the passing away of the Prophet Muhammed (Allah bless him and give him peace). It contains a collection of 417 narrations dealing with all spheres of the Prophet’s life from his honourable outer appearance and characteristics like his bodily features and clothing; to his hallowed inner traits such as his humility and humour. Scholar’s have said that whoever missed the opportunity to see the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) need only study this book to gain a vivid perception of what it would have been like to live among the Prophet and his Companions.

The Story behind the lyrics of "When I Saw His Light".
I heard one day a couple of verses in Arabic praising Sayyidna Muhammad (pbuh). These two verses were attributed to the poet of the Prophet (s), Sayyidna Hassan bin Thabit (ra). These two verses touched my heart deeply. The poet tried to describe his first encounter with the light of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). After much reflection, I decided to write a song about such an encounter.
Some say there is no evidence that these verses came from Sayyidna Hassan (ra). We say Allah knows best. The point is, whoever wrote them must have been a lover of Sayyidna Muhammad (pbuh), because he understood the magnificence of the Prophetic light.
Here are the Arabic verses I based "When I Saw His Light" On:
لما رأيت أنواره سطعت .. وضعت من خيفتي كفي على بصري
خوفاً على بصري من حسن صورته .. فلست أنظره إلا على قدري
روح من النور في جسم من القمر .. كحلية نسجت من الأنجم الزهر
English Lyrics:
