el umbral del sueño: tatuaje de azahar en las costillas 
Tierra mojada sobre almas en alarma, la distopía de la confianza cubierta por una manta tejida con los flecos del amor. Sonidos del paisaje que amainan la dureza tranquila de una adicción al vivir, de un latir descolocado que une la vejez al viento y deja la duda en pasado... y deja el rezo en abierto, de una soledad sin fuego que busca el mar que hay adentro y tiñe de lila el lamento.


Recordings from Ricote Valley and Campo de Cartagena in southeastern Spain, compiled by Diane Barbé, Selu Herraiz & Carlos Suárez. Appearing in the mix: Alien kin improvisation with hand made primeval instruments in the context of a workshop guided by Diane Barbé who also mede the instruments while doing a residency in Centro Negra, Blanca.

Caminar -sin dejar atrás- hacia un horizonte líquido.
La linea quiebra al contacto con la tierra. Un ocaso eterno impide el paso a la noche. Las partículas de polvo centellean en suspenso tintineando en las vías respiratorias. Caminar sin oír tus pasos. Serpentean gaviotas con escamas y la arcilla grazna al resquebrajarse. Cargas sus ojos en el pecho para abrir sus párpados con alguna estrella. El suelo se aleja y los susurros del pasado te hielan la nuca. Entre latido y latido una gran zancada, la imagen líquida se acerca y al zambullirte en ella el aire vuelve a ser respirable. Se abre la noche. Acarician tus pupilas -atravesando el tiempo- infinitos soles.

Con el verano en pleno auge, y la luna llena reciente en Capricornio, que invita a la escucha, propongo un viaje nocturno, intenso y agitado por momentos. Un collage que transita por texturas y pulsos que abren espacio a la atención y al desvío. Fragmentos que se pierden en la mezcla.

T H E  F A L L E N  T R E E

Industrial Music for a dining room

When a tree falls, it generates a whole new ecosystem around it. The Fallen Tree thus means the birth of new life.

Stora Hyttnäs is a bourgeois house of a family whose wealth has its origin in the exploitation of copper. Two generations enjoyed such privileges. The house, now open to the public, tells us about a period of glory that fades; and with it, its patriarchal values.

By the summer solstice, in Sweden, a pole with floral decorations (pushed by men) is raised as a symbol of fertility. Maybe the call to life should be to let it fall on the earth. The phallus must fall. And, lying on a green carpet, listen to the voices and noises of the forest and let all the underlying knowledge covered in dead skin emerge.

The fallen tree - Hole border - fictional soundscape

There is a fixed point around which the movement happens. Everything turns. For years I have fought against time trying to impose a rhythm of my own, rational and opposite to the intuitive beat. Acceptance of the space-time flow makes me the contemplative axis, the stillness, an active observer of becoming.

Musically this experience is symbolically translated into an inverse sound journey, from the purest and most random landscapes to complex and controlled synthesis passing through analog noise as a symbol of chaos.

live composition created in 2017 using field recordings and analog/modular synthesis. It incorporates the sound of a Saeta—a traditional Easter chant—recorded in the city of Murcia. Originally composed for a concert that took place on Good Friday, the day of the crucifixion, the piece has been remixed

Thanks to Carlos Suárez for kindly sharing some of his field recordings with me — the owl, the whitish background captured through a metal tube, and the crackling of the freezer.
