there is a lot of emotional work behind this 2 1/2h. musically, In all my years, I’ve never dedicated myself so intensely to one thing. it was really a beautiful experience and gave me a lot of joy.

First hour at the last Almost Exotic event at Sameheads where i've hosted Odopt & Lily Haz.

"First and last hours of parties are always my favourite to play, and in this particular one i enjoyed playing my "Empty Dancefloor" folder off my stick, playing some of my favourite songs and rhythms to a an empty space, infusing it with the vibrations and energies, building it up to the spark that will ignite the party. Tobias es el moniker de Antonio Hidalgo, selector influenciado por la belleza en sus formas más subjetivas y las narrativas auditivas no lineales. 

Habitual en espacios como Bar Ocio, Estrasburgo1518 y Lonja Negra, ha participado en contextos de escucha como Arkaoda (Berlín), Salon des Amateurs (Düsseldorf) y Murmur (Ámsterdam), tanto en solitario como en tándem bajo @stredniskola_ junto a su compañero sónico Andreu, con el que programa Vertical Strata en Mutant Radio, un concepto que indaga en el repertorio emocional y musical de distintos artistas. Además, forma parte de @ediciones_villasonora, una plataforma con un foco en artistas emergentes y propuestas en fase embrionaria.

En sus propias palabras, este mix es un arreglo íntimo e introvertido de cosas que reflejan su mood actual. Una mezcla de anomalías pop, experimentos emotivos y paisajes etéreos llenos de capas percusivas.

There is a fixed point around which the movement happens. Everything turns. For years I have fought against time trying to impose a rhythm of my own, rational and opposite to the intuitive beat. Acceptance of the space-time flow makes me the contemplative axis, the stillness, an active observer of becoming.

Musically this experience is symbolically translated into an inverse sound journey, from the purest and most random landscapes to complex and controlled synthesis passing through analog noise as a symbol of chaos.

live composition created in 2017 using field recordings and analog/modular synthesis. It incorporates the sound of a Saeta—a traditional Easter chant—recorded in the city of Murcia. Originally composed for a concert that took place on Good Friday, the day of the crucifixion, the piece has been remixed

Thanks to Carlos Suárez for kindly sharing some of his field recordings with me — the owl, the whitish background captured through a metal tube, and the crackling of the freezer.

Incoming for mix number 57 we welcome markus woernle, aka Menqui to the joysticks. Flavoured in equal parts treasure hunter and DJ, you’re as likely to hear him slap on a proto house banger as an odd disco digger, and its this open minded style that landed him his monthly slot on Cashmere Radio, ‘Past Forward’, which he hosts alongside Kryptic DJ and Hendrik Stein. His new record label R-i-o also gets a mention, which Woernle co-owns alongside Nadia D’Alo and Benedikt Frey.
