Originally released as part of Catartsis & Ōtone’s “Mechanical Gesture” split EP in 2020 on Obscuur Records and reissued as a 12” record in 2021, Ōtone’s “Slice” has since been summoned into the sets and ears of a myriad of DJs and dancers. Today the track’s distinctive slitting timbres are back with eight remixes, each playfully shaping the original cut into unique percussive hybrids. The result is an eclectic gathering of breakbeat, techno, and hyperpop chimaeras through which recordings of cutting engines swirl anew thanks to the craft of Sister Zo, Go Hiyama, Lara David, Yogg, Neve, and Catartsis.

After exploring a variety of genres, he ultimately found his passion in Techno. On October 29th, flash floods devastated much of the southern and western areas of the Valencia province, along with several other regions in Spain. This catastrophic event brought storm surges, collapsing bridges, and left thousands stranded on roads and streets, ultimately leading to a death toll that is now estimated in the hundreds and, tragically, still rising.

Homes, animal shelters, businesses, personal property, and families have all suffered immensely from this disaster—an event that caught thousands out on the streets, commuting to and from school, work, and daily life, with little to no warning. Severe alerts reached our phones 10 hours later, leading to even greater tragedy.

“Germanor,” our word for “brotherhood,” embodies the spirit of this compilation. We aim to reach out and support our city and those who have been far less fortunate than ourselves.

We are incredibly grateful to have such a diverse and talented community of music makers in the city, who have generously donated their work to aid in relief efforts. Our hearts go out to all those who have suffered loss.

For this DT:Premiere we selected "Active Springs" that is a subterranean exploration of excellence. A warping bassline and exotic design elements combine for a hypnotic soundscape of trippy robot-like sounds, shimmering to the soul and engage the mind with its heady, sci-fi groove.
