Back in the days at Distillery's Fridayclub, just before the 10-year-residency started, introducing Nu Skool Breaks to the people. Thanks to Porpoise for the introduction to this music genre which leaded me to Bassmusic after being bored with the 4/4 stuff for a while back then, and opened quite a new chapter for many years to come. Also big up to the Repertoire crew for giving me this platform.

Sencha Selects Vol.2 - Music Only

It’s been a little while since I’ve been posting a club focused DJ-set apart from the bits regularly played on the radio shows. Last one was a live recording one year ago and so is this one – recorded live on the airwaves at radioblau DJ-Night.

Musically it’s a blend of sounds I would put gently in this box labeled “Bass Music”, which includes artefacts of Techno as well as Breaks, Electrofunk, Dub. And to drop some more specific genre names, one can enjoy some breezes of Baile Funk, Gqom, UK Garage, (Post) Dubstep and Grime as well.

Preparing the crates for this one, it was once more interesting to witness how much I don’t really care about all those genre categories, and instead just keep up with the spirit to combine sounds that are moving something inside of me.
And at the same time, it’s kinda sad realizing that it’s exactly this spirit of not wanting to play only one specific sound or at least a predictable palette, that makes it hard for people to follow your work, keeping up their interest in those twists and turns you take. 

No matter who might be listening or not, there is amazing talent in music production out there and such an incredible amount of good music to play out. In consequence it’s always good to create a new mix and to share it, so here’s a tiny contribution to what’s quality club music for me – enjoy!

Just as promised - after the last DJ set which was bass-heavy and electronic influenced, let's lurk into a complete different direction to keep it interesting and fun... yes or yes?

Long time partner in crime Linha Azul aka Afro Latin What?! was asking for a genre special to kick off his new string of radio shows on the superb Black Rhino Radio located in Bucharest. And so I did, choosing Cumbia (again) to give a nod plus quite a piece of my heart to one of the most important genres created in the melting pot of Latin American culture, especially focusing on Colombia here. Playing some recent gems rather than the old gold, but still keeping it traditional and trying to showcase a little variety out of the eclectic sound combinations Cumbia meanwhile has to offer during all those decades.

Also, talking a little bit about it. So if you don't know what all this is about and you would like to get some extra info about this genre - give this one a play, it's nice and short. Have fun with those hypnotic shuffled grooves!

One of Germany's longest running club institutions is back after 2 years of work, moving to the new place. Being involved playing and curating nights for about 10 years at Distillery back in the days, it was a pleasure for me to select some tunes for the Fridayclub Re-Opening.
Actually I'm even more pleased with this one than with the latest Subardo Festival set I've uploaded recently... just because it's even more unpredictable, covering a wider range of genres. The only constant is the velocity (actual BPM) increasing througout the mix, everything else is - as always - filed under risky & affective. Can you handle it?
