Intergalactic soundshifter Bop is back with yet another mind-bending release on Hospital Records. Made up of four fresh dance music delights each exploring different pockets of the sonic spectrum, the Saint Petersburg-based musical wizard explores the sounds of UK garage, techno, jungle, electronica and ambient on his latest ‘Plexus’ EP.

‘2gether’ opens the release with a futuristic garage number which is set to light up dancefloors throughout the galaxy. Off-beat dubbed out synths, skittery percussions and a classic UK garage bassline with a modern twist are channelled into an all-round electronic weapon, crafted together intricately by Bop.

Entering into the realm of hypnotic techno, ‘Reform’ sees a raw amalgamation of vibrations that will elevate the mind into a higher state of consciousness. Thumping kick drums and dreamlike synthesis carry the weight of the tune as Bop further demonstrates how his flexible approach to production continues to go unmatched in the world of dance music.

Stepping up the tempo on the aptly titled ‘Surfing The Anxiety Waves’, Bop puts his minimal spin on a new-wave jungle slammer. Expect a resonant bassline which falls downwards into the pits of your stomach, accompanied by hard-hitting breakbeats which fizzle out into nothingness before coming back around to strike again. This one is not for the faint hearted.

‘Guilt Of Being A Human’ rounds off the EP with playful melodies and elements of Bop’s classic microfunk sound, reminiscent of his earlier works such as ‘A Song About My Dog’. This electronic delicacy is filled with a vast sense of spaciousness, scattered with a seemingly never-ending amount of musical intricacies.

Not one for sticking to one style, Bop’s versatile sound has seen him rack up support from an array of tastemakers. His most recent ‘Perehod’ EP received the seal of approval from the likes of Ejeca, London Elektricity, Laurent Garnier and Oneman. Also no stranger to topping charts outside of the drum & bass world, his ‘Haze’ track with Subwave reached number 1 on the Beatport Garage chart. With support over the years from the likes of DJ Mag and Resident Advisor, as well as radio support on BBC Radio 1, Rinse FM and Reprezent, not to mention the running of his very own esteemed Microfunk imprint, the sounds of Bop continue to ripple into 2021 and beyond.

'Negative Space' is the debut LP from Seattle, USA resident Andre Delgado, known to most as Homemade Weapons. A producer with a long history in Drum and Bass, his career hit a powerful stride around 2012 when a stripped back, militant, half speed version of the genre began emerging. Andre was in the leading charge of producers perfecting this new minimal approach. Using classic jungle break edits as rapid-fire emphasis tools on top of mood-soaked, half-time, kick drum driven rhythms, the Homemade Weapons style quickly became recognised as one of the most unique and effective approaches to emerge from this experimentation.

Following on from a slew of successful singles for Samurai Music and his own label Weaponry from 2013-2016, 'Negative Space' is the result of a refinement, an individual artist perfecting his craft. Eschewing the 'filler' approach often taken by dance music artists approaching a full length LP, 'Negative Space' is 12 tracks of what Homemade Weapons does best - essential dance-floor weapons for those tuned in to this new strain of Drum and Bass.
