Sender boss Benno Blome returns with the "When I Wake Up Ep". A late night package, featuring a seductive baritone vocal from "Nu Groove"-legend Elbee Bad. Bad fuses the famous Chicago "jack" with an early morning love letter. "When I wake up in the morning, I'm just thinking about YOU!"
The EP opens with "Part One". The sexy piano hook, accompanied by driving drum patterns and loops form an almost classic sounding jack-house track right from the nineties.
Swiss-born Dachshund provides an excellent remix for the EP. He creates a dark, brooding version with an absolutely infectious bass line, right in the spirit of Sender. Not content with one version Benno remasters the original. "Part Two" is an understated deep interpretation that chimes and grooves. The track stands alone from the original with its heavy use of dub chords and differently minded vocal arrangements. Let's jack!!!

Beginning with discordant, layered strings and a heady drone, a sparse beat propels it forward, heavy with atmosphere and mood. The release also features hard-hitting VIP versions of ‘Avarice’ which you can hear here and ‘As You Fall’, the latter featuring London-based songwriter and visual artist Py, both of which were developed for the dancefloor as Throwing Snow took his live show around the world. Finally, AUS label owner and !K7 A&R Will Saul & production partner Komon offer up a remix of ‘Hypnotise’, with Kid A’s vocals swirling around a dark, propulsive beat.

The intent of SULEIMAN RECORDS and its vinyl-only sub-label AISSA RECORDS is to promote and produce positive, quality, underground electronic music. Taking influences from House, Techno and the many amalgamations in between, involving a diverse array of talented artists worldwide.

PREMIERE: Jay Tripwire - Pole Reversal [Woodwork Recordings]

As we enter the latter half of a challenging 2020, San Francisco-based DJ, producer and Extrasketch head Andrew Rasse, aka Butane, and regular Italian production partner Riko Forinson are showing no signs of slowing down as they ready yet another string of releases for lovers of quality and consistent house and techno. ‘In Concert’, a play on words of sorts, means both literally ‘acting jointly' (symbolizing Rasse & Forinson’s impressive ongoing collaborative output within the studio), and also the enjoyment and consumption of live music (which we all miss dearly). Here, presented as a home concert of sorts, the duo's two-part project will see the pair combine to showcase a selection of new material within the more ‘musical’ end of their artistic spectrum – beginning with four fresh productions via Volume One this September.

Opening with the slow-burning hooky vocals of the lead track ‘Let Go’, the duo exhibit a combination of influences and sonics from across the electronic sphere to produce a sure-fire post-covid indie festival jam. ‘Connect’ welcomes more blissful stylings as woozy chords and delicate vocals merge with hazy grooves throughout, whilst ‘Something Different’ utilizes expertly programmed organic percussion arrangements alongside meandering melodies and a blossoming core groove. To close, ‘I’m Asking You’ offers up the most up-front production in the package as slick drum licks work beneath warping atmospherics to nail down a driving yet delicate dubby journey and shape up proceedings adeptly.

Originally planned as a two-part mini-album on the label, the duos ‘In Concert’ project now looks set to feature as an ongoing collaborative series on Rasse’s Extrasketch imprint featuring their deeper, more musical work.  Here the pair unveils the third installment in the series, delivering three fresh productions to close October.

Opening cut ‘Going Home’ is an exemplary showcase of the duo's interwoven styles and signature elements, delivering a woozy, slow-blooming house production guided by hypnotic vocal hooks, resonating stabs and rich synth melodies.  ‘Weird Romance’ leans towards brighter, prettier territory as dreamy lead lines float atop of refined percussion arrangements and sweeping atmospherics. The impressive ‘You Got Me’ – a slick vocal-led number with an arpeggiated synth bubbling under throughout -punctuates the release in style.
