What I'm working on right now

Originally meant to be a screen-capture video which was marred by audio desync, I ripped out the audio section and cut out the best bits.

These sounds are mostly not very pretty, but they are impressively organic, full of analog artifacts, designed to showcase how Softube's Modular can hold it's own from high notes to booming bass notes with crazy modulations, wavefolding, thru-zero FM and triangle-core sync sweeps and the endless combinations of the above, which typically have sounded terrible in the digital domain, if they've even been attempted.

Full review to follow, but I am amazed by how similar this sounds to the clips I have heard of these hardware modules! Not a bread-and-butter machine, as it were, but invaluable for standout leads and acidics, deep basses, soaring high-pitched sawtooth sweeps, organic textures and fodder for further processing and sampling.

Softube Modular - Organic Tweaking

Another old Sendy jam found on a tape; from the late 90's. And that semicolon was totally gratuitous. This one has a bit of a glassy, jazzy vibe that I like.

Future Starter (demo) aka What I'm Working On Right Now

Zzibid was a collaboration between myself and an at-the-time friend who was a goth rocker and fellow synth enthusiast. The project was an attempt to fuse both of our genres but without really taking it too seriously, and as such we co-wrote the material, though I programmed and produced it.

Sadly, Zzibid was short lived, we created three tracks, or "jam sessions" including a pretty cool synth/vocal track before the band was broken up by a third party.

I should also take full responsibility for the cheesy organ solos in the middle :)

Soundcloud Spammers Can Eat an Infinite Turd

So I decided to put this up. Matthew Rann wrote the song while we were working together as Zzibid, I produced it and did most of the playing and mixing, but Rann had considerable creative input beyond just writing and singing the lyrics. Sadly the project was short-lived.

Found this on a hard drive. I'm guessing it's from around 2010 but I have very little memory of creating it, beyond a few of the riffs. Really strange to hear something in this way.

Mixing could be better, may try and see if I can polish the wave file up a bit.

Decided to try and get better at ambience. I know I can do drums, but I felt like I was hiding behind them a bit? Iunno. :p

I've been making music with computers, synths and samplers since the early 90's. As well as hoping for people to enjoy my albums and whatever else I create, I am looking for soundtrack work - especially chiptune styled stuff. I am also involved in 2D level design work and have a full campaign that ships with the indie platformer VVVVVV by Terry Cavanagh, sitting alongsides the likes of contributors such as Notch of Minecraft fame. I LOVE designing game levels and virtual worlds.
