I composed this song around 1987 as a tribute to the Brazilian band Azymuth - hence the title with the alternative spelling.

Love Has Gone Cold

This song was written for (and performed on) a 5-string acoustic bass guitar. The idea behind the composition was basically playing the bass the way you would play fingerstyle guitar. I added some percussions to give it a more rhythm.

Bassic Ingredients

Long before the brazilian musical styles samba or bossa nova evolved the most popular Brazilian music style was the "choro", and one trademark of this style was the sound of a typical tiny brazilian guitar with four strings called "Cavaquinho". To incorporate that sound into my own music  I purchased such an instrument in 2006 and composed this tune called "Café da manha" for my guitar duo "Rio Brio". Two years later  I recorded a new richer orchestrated version of the song which I would like to share with you. Apart from the cavaquinho I am playing guitars, bass and bongos on this track.
