We welcome back Spanish producer Señora for a double gatefold album entitled ‘Fósil’ that showcases his unique take on hypnotic rhythm, found sounds and sampling. Señora became a firm favourite with the likes of Andrew Weatherall (R.I.P.) and Sean Johnston for his rugged grooves and innovative approach to production, melding the sounds of machines, animals, electricity and other weird noises in a flurry of FX and sonic experimentation. He debuted on this label in 2017 and has also landed on Shango Records, Night Noise and LNDKHN since then. Now based in Berlin and a regular at clubs and festivals round Europe he offers up a debut album that features nine stunning pieces that aim to reflect on the next evolutionary steps of the human race. This is a hugely atmospheric album of perfectly realised interplanetary sounds, the whole thing taking you on a cerebral and evocative journey far away from here.

British/Turkish SONLIFE is releasing his remix of the ‘Godless Ceremony’s hit single ‘Kara Toprak’ featuring Jacob Gurevitsch. A down-tempo progressive track that’s yet danceable interpretation including monk alike hums and a futuristic drone atmosphere.

An oomph remix, that’s sure to make you curve your eyebrows as the reese bass goes on alongside the thumping deep beat.

First released digitally in 2012, then on vinyl in 2013, Compuphonic feat. Marques Toliver's 'Sunset' has proved an enduring hit with house lovers around the world. 

Berlin based Noema goes deep with his shimmering remix that is layered up with xylophones, chords and wooden hits. lt's a sensuous cut that will infuse any set with real heartwarming grooves.

After contributing a remix to the first EP of his buddy AVEM on Heimlich Musik, Basel based wunderkind Arutani releases three original Tracks with remixes by GYRL and Dolph as the third EP on the Viennese imprint. The melody of the title track “Pendulum“ rises as a climax from playful percussions wandering around the beat construct. By adopting the main theme and adding energetic drums, Dolph transforms the dreamy original mix into a club tool for later (or early morning) hours. „Dorian“ comes along with an acid-line as a driving element carrying away trippy vocals and breaky beats resulting in melancholic synth pads. Slowmotion-heroes GYRL from Leipzig used their unique mighty drumming to make it clear from the first moment on that you are listening to one of their remixes. Combined with selected elements from the original the result is an absolute banger that makes every sound system happy. „Kids from the past“ appears as an homage to earlier days using disco-influenced pads as a reference to the 80s. Although one has not heard Arutani giving his track a disco-touch very often, the unique sound-design reflects Arutani’s current work and provides this track with a modern touch to serve as the grand final of the EP.

Mirror for the Sun is a 14-track cycle of tempos, moods, and hums exploring different facets of a softly solar energy. The compilation departs from the Souq’s signature sound, infusing it
with a rotation of new elements. Niki Sadeki’s curation brings more of an uncanny Berlin-style voltage to the label’s earthy tradition, shaped by her own learned perception of deep house. The result is a cosmic and crunchy experimental blend, with mingling moments of downbeat drama and upbeat glow.

When seen through a mirror, the sun’s light only reflects fragments of a fuller picture. Mirror for the Sun echoes this sentiment. Each track contributes an angle to an overall picture of sentience and connection. The 19 featured artists include returners like Zuma Dionys and
MoM, and newcomers like Madmotormiquel, Geju, Landhouse Krink and Niju.

We couldn’t think of a more suited selector than Vancouver based Niki Sadeki, whose vision has refracted across an impressive stream of radio shows, guest mixes, and podcasts over the years. Niki’s ability to musically embark a living-room or a car ride as much as she can a
dance-floor is a quality we prize right now more than ever.

This compilation will return annually to Souq, shedding its skin and renewing itself along the way. 

Souq Records have built their identity in inviting listeners to travel across cultures, instruments and influences. This time around, the experience is more of a mind trip than a geographical one – we hope you enjoy this new phase just as much.
