система | system presents "Anatomy of a headshot" release by Oron-la-Ville-based artist Elias.
~ "My name is Elias Pichler and I have been making music since my childhood. Starting with jazz piano at 6. Later around 16 I started playing around with electronic music instruments and started mixing and producing tracks. In this context I was also a member of a crew based in Lausanne that organized free parties for 6 years now. With the pandemic, I could focus on production and other musical projects. I also have a live show jazz project.
In this EP, I tried to use experimental textures and drums with more melodic samples and rather clean pads. The result is something somewhat bizarre and slightly disturbing while remaining within reach of anyone. I took inspiration from the artist that made my cover and with which I have the chance to work with for a few months. This EP is about this girl I met when I least expected it. She blew my mind and changed my view on art and many aspects of life. This is why I called this EP "Anatomy of a headshot".
All these tracks were produced exclusively using an Analog rhythm, an Octatrack, a ProphetX, a Nord electro 2, a Sherman filterbank and finally a Jomox T-resonator MKII. All tracks are live takes and are presented as is expect for "anatomy of a headshot" where I post produced it using Audacity.
The new thing in this EP is the way I processed and sequenced the drums. I left a lot of room to random textures as I was looking for a way to mix beauty and ugliness in a single track. I started with the weird and ugly, letting the textures and drums go wild and added the fresh pads and clean melodies afterwards." ~ Elias Pichler

Seeing that I just completed the Slimkid3 & Nu-Mark collaboration, I thought it was appropriate to assemble a mix that highlights both Jurassic 5 and Pharcyde at their best. I dug deep in the vaults and uncovered some never before heard multi tracks, unreleased songs and acapellas from old tapes that needed to see the light of day.
