Sheldon Drake was fortunate to be around NYC for the Illbient scene in the mid 90s, with its sleazy heaving thumps and uneasy drones. He hosted the weekly Undercity at Halcyon for 4 years, and in Berlin was resident with lsb_TV, a 6 hour Saturday night cable show of experimental sound and video, 2013-18.

Terrified children and quadcopter wounds: 30 minutes in Gaza hospitals
Nowhere is safe in Gaza as the Israeli military push continues for full control of Gaza City, UN and partner aid agencies said on Friday.

In this update, UNICEF, WHO and the ICRC describe harrowing conditions in the wartorn enclave’s remaining hospitals which are overcapacity and lacking the lifesaving equipment they need to save lives.  

“I saw children who've been paralyzed, who've been burnt and who've had amputations, all following direct hits on their tents or tents in the surrounding area, all at around two o’clock in the morning,” says UNICEF’s James Elder, who speaks first in this clip, followed by WHO’s Dr Rik Peeperkorn and then ICRC’s Christian Cardon.

The first album to be completed fully after I left Finland for the Netherlands. I was living in the more rural parts of Holland for a while, spending a lot of my time bicycling and foraging in the woods at night. I discovered that the man-made nature of this country is both beautiful and frightening in equal amounts; at some times seeming like a kafkaesque tale of ecological horrors, and others a poetic struggle against the forces of nature by the will of the settlers.

The album was recorded entirely in one evening after carefully constructing a set of constraints for the sounds and structure, tying the four songs together to tell a story of one evening in the Netherlands. Recommended listening for bicycling, driving, on the train, meditating, sleeping, making love or other moments of shifting focus.
