"Amid isolation, I attempted to convince myself I was fine alone, that people I had previously been close to were no good for me. Fueled by the desire to prove myself and catch up to the creators I admire, I focused solely on reaching my full artistic potential, passing off any negative emotions as necessary woes. In actuality, I was just running from my loneliness by using music as a coping mechanism, isolating myself further in the process. Coming to terms with this self-deception, I acknowledge I require some human contact as the second verse progresses. By end of the song I’ve come full circle, now hearing the voices of those I have been running from, seeking communication and wanting to “Catch Up”. With motives blurred I am torn between immersing myself in my passion and reconnecting with people I care about.
