After the success of the first A-sides compilation in 2012, Adam Beyer has decided its time to release another. With Adam's stature steadily growing as one of the leading talents in the Techno scene and the rise of Drumcode, the standard of demo's that have been sent to Adam have been top notch. Adam has now decided to release two compilations with 10 tracks on each, both consisting of tracks that Adam has tried and tested. There are also new artists that have been invited to release on Drumcode for this compilation and others who are a staple in Drumcode's core family. Combining both old and new talents Drumcode have come up with something unique and distinctive to make this two-part compilation something extra special.

Luca Tresque debuts on Unrilis with a driving techno EP that has raw sounds and hypnotic grooves.

Hailing from Austria, Luca Tresque is the co-owner of Splatter imprint and has released on Florian Meindl's FLASH, Robert Hoff's trau-ma, and Alex Bau's Credo. Known for his exceptional DJ skills being a resident at Kantine Club, he has also played at the respected KHIDI, Werk, and Grelle Forelle venues.

Unrilis is a record label Co-Founded by the late Rino Cerrone, and Luca Tresque is the latest artist to join the imprints roster.

"Dunes Everywhere" has a murky lead synth combining with fizzing hi-hats and a ground shaking low-end.

German duo Obscure Shape & SHDW drop three robust Techno tracks in their first full release on Rekids this May.

One of the most exciting acts in Techno today, Obscure Shape & SHDW are the founders of From Another Mind - the label and party series making waves in South-Germany. Aside from Rekids, where they remixed Radio Slave’s ‘Vision’ last year, the pair’s abilities in the studio have seen them invited by Slam for two separate remixes of Monoloc and Envoy on Soma, with more projects to be announced.

‘Himmel Und Erde’ is a cavernous cut boasting colossal kicks and skipping percussion before a tantalising melody comes into play. ‘Am Ende Der Welt’ is more deep and atmospheric in comparison, blending dusky percussion with echoing synths until ‘Gefallene Engel’ demonstrates syncopated drums and an otherworldly hook that conjure up a mesmerising aesthetic to conclude the release.

With 10 years of prolifically releasing bangers on the likes of Riot Recordings and Kraftek Recordings, the Rome based DJ and producer Frankyeffe returns to Oliver Huntemann’s Senso Sounds. The three tracks on the Maximizer EP are tough techno with an attitude - perfectly aligned with Senso’s aesthetic. 

The title track 'Maximizer' is a prime example - a lean and muscular work out tailored for big rooms and warehouses. 'Conditions' has elements that hark back to the hardcore sound of the 90s, yet with a slick, contemporaty edge that makes it an essential listen for DJs and dancers on a harder tip. 'Red Alert' is stripped back and weaponised to the max - firing percussion interacts with a thick, low kick and ravey basslines and synths.

Endangered is excited to welcome back Swiss artist Soma Soul with a new 4-track EP, featuring a remix from label boss Brian Cid.

Just under a year ago, Zurich’s Soma Soul debuted on Endangered with a spectacular EP of cinematic techno.  Since then, he’s had more music come out on Jonas Rathsman’s ELEMENTS, and Sabb’s RADIANT labels.  In his return to Endangered, the Illusion of Control EP continues where the last one left off, and shows the evolution of an artist in a short period of time.

No time is wasted easing into the release, with the title track bringing the energy right off the bat.  A rollercoaster of emotions flows throughout, and peaks with a dramatic breakdown.  “Symphony Lake” follows, and continues the emotional trip.  Soma Soul’s signature cinematic sounds really shine through here, with the production feeling like a full electronic orchestra.

After only releasing original tracks on the label, Brian Cid makes his remixer debut on Endangered, and does not disappoint with his take on “Symphony Lake”.  An even more driving element is added to the beat, and Brian takes the parts from the original on a divine journey.  “No Gravity” closes the release, and Brian Cid describes it best after playing this one at a recent gig: “Dark vibes all the way.  Energy on a million.”

I've been getting my inspiration from all sorts of different places lately; classical music, jazz and more recently, movie scores. Which, in this case I heard the trailer soundtrack to A24's movie, Midsommar and I absolutely fell in love with it. Here is my little take, my little twist on Audiomachine's The Dance Of Death.

Multifaceted artist Patrick Mason and Rekids boss Matt Edwards return with their next release as SRVD, entitled ‘Black On Black’. Since teaming up two years ago, Matt Edwards (Radio Slave) and Patrick Mason have continued to blur the lines between pounding techno and live avant-garde performance under their SRVD alias. Following performances in Barcelona, Melbourne, Berlin London and Tokyo, and with support from the likes of Sven Väth, Rodhad, Chris Liebing, Laurent Garnier and many more. The formidable duo now return to their home imprint, Rekids, with two tracks both recorded in Bordeaux in 2019, using only analogue gear, before being arranged and mixed in Berlin. 

‘Black On Black’ opens with thundering percussion, rising synths, rattling cymbals and alluring vocals from Patrick which elevates the energy and leads you into delightful darkness. On the flip, ‘USB’ pulses with a Roland SH 101 bassline and deep kicks while Patrick’s haunting vocal-work causes an unsettling rhythm that propels you into a warehouse space.
