Internationally celebrated techno artist Victor Ruiz has enjoyed considerable success over recent years with his undeniably authentic strain of underground electronic music. A staunch contributor to the progression of the genre, Victor’s deft ear is guided by a sheer passion for evolution and artistic expression, making him one of the most dynamic contemporary talents on the circuit. Following a string of globally acclaimed releases in 2024, the Brazilian artist now unveils his most audacious body of work to date, delving into the archives of his un-released catalog – old and new – to form his latest medley of tracks, ‘This Is Not An Album’. Landing on Ruiz’s own imprint VOLTA, which now stands as techno’s fourth best-selling record label just two years after its inception.

In an era where music is often consumed with fleeting value, Ruiz challenges this notion head-on. The release date for this collection - August 8, 2024 - also holds significance to its narrative; another intriguing facet to this conceptually-driven, artistic opus. Featuring 8 tracks, released on the 8th, and with the sum of 2024 amounting to 8, Victor sought to imbue his music with a sense of intentionality and depth, offering his listeners a meaningful and memorable experience tied to the alignment of numbers.
 
"This release is my way of pushing back against the transient nature of today’s music industry," says Ruiz. "I wanted to create something that would stand the test of time, that people could connect with on a deeper level. 'This Is Not An Album' is my revolt to a scene that often prioritizes quick hits over lasting impact.” He continues, “People may think that this has been a very elaborate project but it’s not. I just felt like releasing 8 tracks out of the blue and funnily enough the date aligned perfectly. I hope you enjoy.”

Oliver Huntemann is the man behind the Senso Sounds label, and whose
curation and dedication to the finer points of techno has helped redefine the genre
over the past decade. Aside from offering space to talented producers, he mainly
drops his own unmistakable work on the label.
Crank is just that - prime Huntemann - tough, muscular and funky techno for the
main floor. The gnarly synth bass adds the attitude while crisp percussion gives the
whole thing a real sharp edge.

The prolific Maksim Dark returns to his spiritual home of Senso Sounds to drop
another 2 tracks of hard, sleek and dynamic techno.
Spaceman is a stripped down weapon - a trippy and rolling groove meets serrated
synths that slice through the track. The other track on the release is Cappella, a
driving cut with Maksim’s signature motorik drum programming, bass rumbles, and
metallic synth stabs.

We welcome Fabrication back to the spotlight with a very special release, his debut album titled: Colors, our first of this nature and one project we are very proud to be working with him on.

Moving through a range of different sounds, genres and atmospheres, with inspiration heavily derived from thoughts and feelings, all relevant to his story and the message he is trying to portray through his music.

The all round emerging theme that emerges within the albums progression was a specific relation to the unpredictable, emotional nature of life. A unifying association of experiences and emotions

For him, the lead line in Colors (both the title and closing track) felt like it was a torch or spirit that was finally able to be drawn from the journey – one that pulls the story together and moves through a calm, relieving and triumphant energy.

What this album really represents is a sort of unifying association of experiences and emotions with which he feels all life on earth shares. When you put all the difference aside, we all experience the uncertainties of life together. We Love, We Suffer, We Bleed.
