Our family members Dandeloo and Lamalice finally join forces for their first vinyl release on Sentaku, perfectly embodying legendary Onogawa Kisaburō's spirit and energy. Famously considered as one of Japan's most gifted sumo wrestlers under Tokagawa's reign in the Edo period, he was one of the few to match Tanikaze's skill and reputation.

Dandeloo kicks off the EP with 'Infinite Path', a powerful rhythm perfectly meeting midway between a soothing comfort and an aggressive storm, followed by Lamalice's 'Annihilation', which pretty much describes itself! Starting the B-side with 'Onogawa Kisaburō', an exploding rhythm that would dazzle at every encounter, exactly like the wrestler would in the sumo ring. Finally, Dandeloo closes with 'Dream Machine', a nostalgic and emotional track symbolising Onogawa's skills and perseverance over the years.

[SENTAKU006] Dandeloo & Lamalice - Onogawa Kisaburō

On our seventh release, Man/ipulate encapsulates Watatsumi’s spirit, the legendary water dragon. Known as the ruler of the seas and god of the oceans, he would control storms and rainfalls, protect its waters and transform into animals and human forms making him one of the most influential creatures in Japanese mythology.

Our sensei Man/ipulate starts with ‘Dimension’ a perfect gem filled with swinging percussions and groovy rhythms, followed by ‘1st Date’, which is definitely to look forward to. On the flip-side comes ‘Watatsumi’, an absolute charm as if it were controlling the sea’s movement from calm to storm. To end things in beauty, ‘Make It Sweat’ literally speaks for itself, a powerful punchy track delivering the dragon’s message from his underwater palace.

Famously considered as one of Japan's most gifted sumo wrestlers under Tokagawa's reign in the Edo period, he was one of the few to match Tanikaze's skill and reputation.

Our hermano Chris Gorrie on duty on the next instalment. 
We met a few years back in Madrid and instantly felt like we were family. Since then we have our annual gatherings fulfilled with sweet beats, memories and shenanigans!

Born in Bruxelles, the Scottish-Italian selector is now based in Madrid. Due to his diverse background, he absorbed influences from different cultures that have shaped, and continue to refine, his sound-palette.

He is the founder and resident of Quinoa, an immersive event concept that merges music, visual arts and interactive instalations now active in Madrid and Barcelona.

Loyal to their ambitions to promote emerging artists from around the world, Sentaku is back with a second release from various friends based in Europe and South America! Opening with DRMC crew’s prominent rhythmic signature, the first track is an ode to bounciness. With a masterpiece full of darker sounds, Berlin-based Swede Per Hammar signs a track with his classic equilibrium of forward rolling techno and stripped house while the Argentinian duo Bodeler & Saenz deliver a groovy B1 building up to unexpected but catchy hip-hop vocals. On duty for the last track, Paris-based Moroccan Bassam throws his recognizable contagious basslines into an hovering track with an unforgettable break and bass solo and perfectly closes this EP with an absolute banger!

Yasuke's legend originates in the Sengoku, period and is known to be the first samurai of African descend to have served in Japan. According to the Shinchō kōki (Oda Nabunaga's chronicle), he was believed to have been gifted a hand forged katana which he used to fight for unification in Japan. Today, we celebrate our very own Lamalice's welcoming to the Sentaku family with two astonishing yet opposite interpretations of Yasuke's weapon in battle.

The legend goes that the Jade Emperor summoned the animals of his kingdom in a great race that helped him establish the order of the Zodiac. Honouring this tradition, Dixia Sirong have called upon twelve collaborators to enter the harmonious cosmos of their musical intellect. With this twelve-part release, they pay tribute to these mythical animals, celebrating their respective sensibilities.

After months of lockdown and hard work, our residents share introspected and deeply personal home made cuts from all musical spheres and influences, together forming the tiger, Tora. We welcome back Lamalice and Dixia Sirong showing us a new dimension to their powerful sound, while our senseis Dandeloo, Massaï and Pablo - with his brother in arms Danny G - bring their distinctive productions to us for the very first time.

It’s after sharing the decks for many years and refining their shared taste in music that Josh Rawl and Massaï decided to form their own collective and record label: Sentaku. The journey started with an encounter that promptly reached an equilibrium: the story of two friends representing Ying and Yang, advocating two opposing forces able to reach a sense of balance when united. Meaning “selection” in Japanese, Sentaku was born in 2016 and has since aimed to develop its own personal imprint on the electronic music world through its distinctive aesthetic. More than a musical journey, the label also promotes a visual platform to be lived as an experience, with the help of graphic designer and animator JXQ.  

By building this collective, the founding duo wants to showcase the skills and productions of the new talents they encounter along their musical journey. Above all, Sentaku is a family, a creative community striving for diversity, quality and innovation.
