Growing up in sunny South Africa, she was initiated in the twilight tribe, then stomping her way through Johannesburg’s starry nights, she sought the sun, and as the dawn broke through one morning, NYX was reborn. Pursuing a better balance of night and light, she carried her passion across the long waters to Vancouver, and finally found the infamous Alluvium festival, and her true musical family. Signed to PsynOpticz in 2017, she has released two VA’s with the label – Seekerz and Seekerz II. An adamant acolyte of the straight 148, NYX may still play coy, soft and sweet, seducing you with soft strings and trippy textures. She may punish with pulsing bass or dazzle with swirling synths, guiding you through till morning with stars in your eyes. Amidst the rugged mountains and sweeping valleys of South Africa’s Western Cape, a unique tale unfolds. 

“Forgotten Fynbos” 


This Various Artist album compiled by ZDLCK started as a concept in early 2023, and has blossomed into an unstoppable force of nature.  

Here, the enchanting world of fynbos, a diverse floral kingdom, converges with organic rhythms. As the sun rises over the ancient land, delicate indigenous blooms sway to an unheard melody, their vibrant colors a visual symphony that harmonizes with the energy of the earth. In this wild expanse, a group of visionary artists find inspiration. They immerse themselves in the secret life of fynbos, capturing it's essence through textures that mimic the whisper of winds through shrubs and the dance of insects among the petals. Each track mirrors an integral part of the ever so intricate ecosystem, from the serene valleys to the high peaks. 

This album is a sensorial journey. A sonic translation of the fynbos spirit, inviting listeners to dance to the rhythm of nature's vibrations and join in celebrating South African indigenous flora. 

This release, like our incredible indigenous flora, is very special in more aspects than just the music. As most of us South Africans know, our mountains have been ravaged by fires in recent years. This takes a lot of resources and effort on the part of fire fighters to keep us safe and the fires contained. The funds raised from support for this VA will be donated directly to the Volunteer Wildfire Services to assist them in being able to combat any future fires.

Sensawunda (Sense of wonder) is an expression used to indicate the typical sensation of wonder deliberately sought in works of science fiction, especially in relation to the 'Golden Age of Science Fiction' of the 1940s and 1950s.

Sensawunda is an emotional reaction that the reader has when confronted, tries to understand or is faced with an absolutely new and non-existent concept necessary to receive new information. It can be associated with the action of paradigm shift, a typical act of science fiction for which a futuristic technology and its bases are accepted in order to continue understanding the work or part of it.

Sensawunda does not require complete understanding of the situation that causes it. The expression is often used in correlation with the suspension of reality or the more literary voluntary suspension of disbelief.

2021 brings us our 10th episode of our “ELEMENTS” series, featuring a relatively new project from Mexico, ACTIVE FORMS. Although the project is new, the minds behind it have been making music for some time. Breathead (15 years) + Noise Wares (4 years) = ACTIVE FORMS (2 years)
They have created a very unique sound with this project with inspirations from twilight, forest and ofcourse mind altering psychedelics.

Active Forms are Vicente Marin (a.k.a Breathead) and Ismael Rodríguez (a.k.a Noise Wares) from the state of Guanajuato and where the project was also born. These 2 psychonauts and artists combine their talents to give life to the Active Forms project, becoming a reference in the Mexican psy scene in their state. They have collaborated with great artists in their productions and so far they have appeared in some of the most recognized Psytrance festivals at the national level such as: Ocelotl Festival, Psycristrance, and Tierra Mágica 5. They have made releases in several international labels such as: PsynOpticz Records , Purple Hexagon Records, and Digital Shamans Records to name a few.
