Joseph Kamaru, aka KMRU (@kamarujoseph), is a sound artist and experimental ambient musician, raised in Nairobi, Kenya, and currently based in Berlin. Recent years have seen KMRU find a place amongst the most stirring voices within the experimental music space, courtesy of his distinctive usage and combination of field recordings, noise, ambient textures and expansive hypnotic drones. 
A luminous presence within the scene, KMRU has garnered critical acclaim not only for releases on the likes of @warp-records, @editionsmego and @subtext-recordings, but also for his live performances, which have seen him take the stage at high-profile events across Europe and the globe.

KMRU’s Patterns of Perception 105 is a poised and evocative passage which floats gracefully between delicate instrumentation, melodic phrasing and abstract ambient textures. Sparked by recent inspirations and experiences, this indelible set embraces peace, stillness and vibrance in equal measure, coming together as a carefully divined tapestry - meditative and shimmering.

Patterns of Perception 105 - KMRU

Today's mix in our 'delayed x mostra' collaboration is a live recording from one of our ultimate favorites, Estrato Aurora, who joined forces with flamenco artist Ana Sola to create quite a unique symbiosis. 
The live performance of Estrato Aurora and Ana Sola at the extraMostra party in Barcelona was a stunning display of the seamless fusion of two seemingly distinct genres. As the deep techno beats unfolded, Ana Sola's soulful voice cut through the electronic soundscape with raw power and emotion. The duo's ability to bridge the gap between electronic music and traditional flamenco is impressive.
The combination of Estrato Aurora's deep techno production and Sola's passionate flamenco singing created a unique experience, showcasing the power of music to transcend genre and cultural boundaries. 

The crew behind MOSTRA has held 23 ExtraMostra events in venues and clubs of all sizes in Barcelona, as well as public facilities and other cities in Spain, such as Madrid, Valencia, and Seville. We have been abroad to London, Berlin, Porto, and Amsterdam.

- Why? Because MOSTRA wants to: 

1) To program local artists that sometimes have a hard time getting into the circuit of commercial venues and big festivals 
2) To collaborate with labels and collectives with which we feel identified or have a similar style to ours 
3) To bring artists that we really like from abroad and that usually don't come to Barcelona 
4) To bring artists from Barcelona to play abroad, Massa or Imox, for example.

Delayed x Mostra: Estrato Aurora and Ana Sola

Our podcast series continues, this month’s story is told by Sanjib. 

Established in the countryside, near the confluence of the rivers Rhone and Saône, Jean’s deep inspirations started in 2015. In 2018, he released his first album, «From Earth to Heaven» on the French label Lett Records. Exploring deeper atmospheres and focused on emotion, his music is dedicated to travel and introspection. 

His works can be found on the brilliant South Korean label Oslated, and also on Annulled, Precept, or Stellar Transitions. Today’s selection is a long walk highlighting the deep spirit of a personal quest.

Starting this year music exploration with a podcast by mastermind Clarence Rise, exploring subgenres of hypnotic techno and deep DnB. @clarencerise: 'For this particular podcast, I've chosen to take as many tracks as possible that are both hypnotic and very percussive, while using a fast, suffocating rhythmic progression. Like a wild hunt in the woods, it's up to the listener to decide whether to be the hunter or the hunted.' 

Over the years, French producer Clarence Rise has developed a strong, intense, and singular musical identity, where incisive techno blends with chilling atmospheres. Some describe his work as Cinematic or Cold Techno, emphasizing complex rhythms, dark sound design, and contemplative melancholy.
