Hidden in South France countryside (Ardèche) , Rochel grew up with tribal and word sounds, psychedelic and electronic music and later discovered new universes after he met Trance and Raves in the middle of the nineties. Our latest addition to the Sequencias catalogue features a single by home town compatriot and WT records label head William T. Burnett donning his Willie Burns persona, complemented with a remix by Aroy Dee.

"Another Place, Another Time" is a short journey into the dreamy out-lands of House. A light melodic sequence drifts over layers of percussion, tones and textures capping everything off with some freak filter work. 

On the flip-side Aroy Dee comes back to Sequencias turning out an unsurprisingly lush and cinematic remix that remains every bit as jacking as it's source material, bringing a futuristic vision that underlines the more pensive qualities of Willie's original.

Lisbon’s Inés Coutinho aka Violet is one of the main faces of Lisbon’s blossoming underground music scene, co-running a queer event series called mina and local internet radio station Rádio Quântica. After starting out as a DJ in shops, pubs and hotels — a time she values greatly —, she briefly lived in London for a while, and around the time she returned to Lisbon her career took off.

Not in the slightest due to her impeccable label Naive, which has been turning heads for its boundless approach and string of strong releases by often upcoming and mostly female artists like Octo Octa, Almaty, Ilana Bryne and Eris Drew, and on which she also released her own ‘Togetherness’ EP. Her mixing approach is a captivating concoction of breakbeat, bass, techno and basically everything else — not eschewing an occasional Cardi B or RnB from the 00’s weaved into her sets.

This Selectors Podcast reflects her engagement with her local scene and its upcoming artists: “This mix is like being surrounded by friends and inspirations from my local scene. Most of its tracks are quite recent and made by young artists whose relentlessly imaginative output has been capturing my imagination”, like BLEID, Stasya and Odete, as well as more established artists from her scene like Photonz and Príncipe’s Marfox. The result is a 70-minute rollercoaster of drums, rhythms and surprises, full of different sounds and influences. According to Coutinho herself, that’s “what [she] feels makes it special, rather than having a specific geographically-pinnable sound.”

After launching their own De Stijl label last year, Artefakt are back on Delsin with Icarus, a sparkling new four track outing. The Dutch live-act and DJ duo formed by Robin Koek and Nick Lapien put out their Kinship LP on the label in 2017, picked up real acclaim for their intricate sound design and deep yet hard hitting grooves. Always serving up atmospheric music that is artful and filled with rich detail, they continued on their own path once again here.

Starting with the smooth and hypnotic, stripped back grooves from Icarus. Followed by the cavernous and immersive ambient trip Ganzfeld Effect. The darker Vapour is still heady and meticulously crafted with deft little details, a rich sound field and supple techno drums getting you in the zone. Delphic then offers crisp breakbeats, dubby drums and electrically charged synths that are physical but emotional. It's another perfect fusion of light and dark, thoughtful and physical techno from this ever impressive pair.

Shakaali is a passionate collector, musician and documentary filmmaker born in Finland, currently living in Brno. He works as part of the AVA collective, where he realizes experimental DJ sets, as well as psychedelic solo live jams with a modular synthesizer. Besides, he forms half of the electroacoustic duo Thistle.

Conversations swirled around different topics; economics, theology and metaphysics. He listened intently to the discussions, trying to pick out points he could challenge or arguments he could raise, but nothing seemed to come to him. He felt out his depth, unsure his contribution would add anything to the equation, or worse, make him sound like he knew nothing at all.

Following two reaches into the past with reissues of Bourbonese Qualk and Doxa Sinistra, Alessandro Adriani's Mannequin Records lock back in to the present with a release from Sam de la Rosa, Led Er Est member and one half of previous Mannequin affiliates The Coombe. Marking his third outing on the label, the four-tracker titled Slick People, brings cold wave rhythms, TR-606 drum patterns, and expressive spoken word layered over minimal synth instrumentals.
