Grammy nominated engineer, producer and songwriter Steven Weston was brought up in Portsmouth, learning to play the organ as a kid, but an early obsession with electronic music soon had him trading it in for a set of turntables. At 18, he left for Spain, where he became a resident DJ on the Murcia coast. 

He’s been on the move ever since, touring the world playing keyboard for the likes of Ladyhawke, Charli XCX, Mikky Ekko and UNKLE. He was also the first and lead bass player in The KLE side project Badger Kull and cut his teeth as an engineer at Metropolis and Strongroom studios in London, working many years with the bands Chronixx & Rudimental at their studio Major Toms in Hoxton.

His inaugural dance music release came in early 2021 with a remix of Catch Me When I Fall from the Ronin I mixtape, which saw great support from John Digweed. 

After launching his own imprint Blank Dust with two EPs, he went on to release on Sasha’s celebrated Last Night On Earth with ‘Liquid followed by his Anjunadeep debut March 31st with the first single from his forthcoming After the Flow EP, entitled ‘Like I Used To’, featuring vocals from British singer-songwriter Låpsley.

Hello friends, its been over a year since I made a podcast. For various different reasons I have not felt inspired to make one, finally I got something cooking with an eclectic arrangement of emotive electronic music that I felt a really strong emotional connection with. 

This podcast is a journey to listen to on your headphones kicking back on the sofa or in bed, on a long drive though the dessert, mountains or along a long and windy seaside road. Its a deep and slowly evolving experience aimed to, put simply, make you feel emotional. I hope you enjoy the listening experience.

I first became acquainted with Jaap’s work about 5+ years ago with a fab EP called ‘I Know Change’ feat. Alice Rose. He’s done a bunch of really nice edits, including a couple Sasha tunes as well as one of my big faves - an old classic from Amber called ‘Anyway’ which you can hear in Undercurrents 10. He caught my attention again last April with his Kidney Pool | 16 11 EP - which you can hear in my ClubNL live set from July and Undercurrents 24. With support from John Digweed, Mano Le Tough, Maceo Plex, and more, Jaap has released on Global Underground, Manual Music, Selador, and Click Records and played around the world in Belgium, Netherlands, Ukraine, Cairo, Malaysia, & NYC…with his Canadian debut in May.

We are back with a Monday refresher for you: similar to the Old Fashioned, the Cooper Union is a blend of smooth, bright Whiskey, elderflower and orange bitters. And Lee Jones fantastic interpretation comes with only the best and smoothest tunes! 

For nearly 20 years, Lee, originally from Essex (UK), has regularly played in the clubs of his adopted home of Berlin, such as KaterBlau, Sisyphos and Watergate, and throughout the world in over 30 countries. 

As a producer he has been through many changes. After his successful downtempo beginnings as Hefner, remixing the likes of 4Hero, Cinematic Orchestra, Fink and Lamb, he quickened the tempo as MyMy with Berghain resident Nick Höppner on labels such as Ostgut Ton, Playhouse and Cocoon. 
In a next step he refined his cinematic, jazz infused sound with releases as Lee Jones on Cityfox, Watergate Records and Aus Music. Recently he has returned to his downtempo roots on Amselcom and with his fantastic tune “Where we at” on Bar 25 a few weeks back. Lee also continues his remix duties for labels such as Anjunadeep and BPitch
