Serge Devant - Space Ibiza New York 10.17.2014

I've been overwhelmed by the love, the support and the positive feedback from my @stereonightclub debut. What a special moment it was to have been selected to play at such an iconic venue and warm up the dance floor for none-other than @oliverkoletzki. 

An experience I will greatly cherish. Thankfully, I was able to hit the record button and capture the story. After getting over the initial nerves, the moment felt natural, the place felt like home and so I lost myself in the music. 

So here’s my set, a raw, unedited and uncut 4-hour musical journey to capture the experience. It is a slow build of tension and release, a rise of energy without overpowering or distracting from the headliner's performance. 

It was an honour to play in that booth, with that sound system, and with one of the best crowds in the world. I can’t wait to do it all over again.

There's something incredibly special about the world renowned Stereobar in Montreal. The sound, the staff, the dancer: it all come together to provide a high quality experience to everyone involved. I had the chance to play and blend music styles for 5 hours that night, and here are the last 3,5 hours. From acid to house to indie to italo to dico to techno, we covered it all. That night still lives in my head as one burst of hedonism fuelled by music, joy and being present in the moment, thanks to the no-phone policy.

The concept of "The Road Back" is rooted in ‘The Hero's Journey’, the larger narrative woven throughout the release. The original is an ambient/electronica track using various layers and soundscapes.

My intention with the remix EP was to source three extremely talented artists I admire—three people with truly distinct identities. I wanted each to interpret the track however they wanted, with no guidelines or rules. The result is three extraordinary pieces that capture their individual aesthetics while impressively channeling the original's qualities.

This further motivates my label's objective: to be a platform for experimentation and expression, all while being a bit leftfield.

This is a piece of music that intricately weaves together a hefty bass, curious sounds and an addictive horn. Pay close attention to ‘In Time’ and you will be absorbed once more in an enchanting world where all you can do is follow the rhythm of the drums. On the flip and Dinky adds her signature vocals, and hooky synth stabs creating a deep and textural remix of ‘This Moment’.

With 13 years behind them as a creative partnership Anthony Middleton and Luca Saporito AKA Audiofly have accumulated unparalleled experience through their endeavours and continue to put everything into maintaining their careers at the highest level. After a chance meeting in 2002, the two men have established a creative empire, which includes two record labels, a global party brand and fashion. A constant source of positive energy, Audiofly retain a focus on the underground with the depth of knowledge to confidently explore new terrains. 

After establishing themselves within the house and techno world as a potent partnership, Audiofly relocated from London to Barcelona in 2008. A hub for many of their peers, “A home for the romantics,” as Anthony puts it. In the coastal city they found the slower pace of life and bright, sunny climate to be the perfect catalyst behind their creative output, fuelling their progression both as artists and businessmen. 

With over a decade of experience Audiofly’s work ethic remains high, they have taken the long road, preferring to retain their authenticity rather than sell out and milk the ‘trendiest’ sound in order to make a quick buck. Over the years they have avoided limiting themselves to one style, never making it easy for themselves but the long game provides a far more satisfying result and sets the true artists apart from those who are driven purely by ego and financial gain. 

Anthony and Luca have been working harder than ever recently, with a second artist album in the works following on from 2011 long-player ‘Follow My Liebe’. This time around they’re incorporating live instrumentation and singers, demonstrating their broad musical range and diversity and pushing their artistic capabilities. It’s a project that will further bolster their reputation for experimentation and staunch belief in staying true to themselves.

Alongside their own musical careers, Audiofly run two labels. The first, Supernature, serves as a platform to represent both their musical vision and their ability to discover and nurture new talent. Over the years, Audiofly have been responsible for supporting the careers of artists such as Dance Spirit and Bedouin, among others, lending their experience to providing them with the necessary skills to succeed in this industry. 

Meanwhile, Maison D’Etre is evolving into a vinyl-only platform, embodying the more traditional aspects of Audiofly’s ethos while, at the same time, the music direction is moving towards less traditional sphere with a series of intriguing collaborations and exciting new sounds in the pipeline.

On top of that, their party, Flying Circus, remains the jewel in the crown at many of the world’s biggest music events; WMC, Sonar Week, ADE and more, with a firm emphasis on quality over quantity. Serge Devant returns to one of his favoured label’s with his White Groove EP , delivering a pair of deep, textured tracks that’ll vitalise any rigid dancefloor. Archie Hamilton makes his Crosstown Rebels debut and supplies a punchy, tripped-out revision of lead track, White Groove .

White Groove is an absorbing mix of rumbling sub bass, soft, textured percussion, and ethereal pads. Loose percussion and a tough kick carve out the initial vibe on C onnect To Server . A hypnotising, low-riding synth is the final layer and helps generate even more groove into this peak time roller.
