Returning to production duties for the 4th release on their evolving Meanwhile imprint, GMJ and Matter present "Eldarin". A pair of remixes come from Sri Lankan and Colombian talents.

Hitting their straps on numerous occasions across a broad and celebrated career, GMJ and Matter continue to make waves in Port Phillip Bay with their distinctive and renowned musical style. Joining forces on over 50 production credits for the likes of Anjunadeep, Balance Music and Proton Music, GMJ and Matter's combined talent is a formidable force. Now reprising the success of their "Lost on Origin" and "Gauntlet" EPs for Meanwhile, the pair come together for a third time. "Eldarin" is a typically dynamic affair with all the hallmarks that have made the pair such revered names in the underground dance scene. A glorious bouncing bassline groove and ticking hi-hat percussion lays the foundation for densely textured pads to weave their way across the near 9-minute offering. Redolent in trademark delays and reverb tails, subtle motifs meander across proceedings before an extended piano sequence cascades across the breakdown. Building to a crescendo at the mid-point, a driving third movement introduces glorious white-noise washes and driving beat, combining with melodic elements to evocative and mesmerising effect.

A seasoned traveller with performances across Middle East and his Sri Lankan home, contemporaneously, a high-profile production career finds Subandrio with over a double-century of credits to his name as he joins the catalogues of some of the finest imprints including Darin Epsilon's Perspectives Digital, Cid Inc.'s Replug and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music. Now making his Meanwhile debut, the Subandrio remix is a highly intelligent reworking of "Eldarin" that retains the rhythmic and bassline integrity of the original while introducing a swathe of new melodic material that bristles with arpeggiated sequences that shimmer in delays and subtle new phrasing. The result is a commanding rework that launches powerfully into the post-breakdown denouement with heavy beat and strong dancefloor character.

Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat represent another high-calibre musical pairing. From Cali, southwest of the Bogota capital, the duo has been a mainstay of the Colombian underground dance movement and beyond South American borders. With successful careers under their respective solo guises and amassing over a half-century of combined productions, Sanclemente and Dabeat have found their music allied to some of the industry's finest blue-chip imprints that include Mango Alley, UV and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden. A Meanwhile debut finds the pair on scintillating form as chugging, head-shaking rhythm creates a vibrant backdrop for fizzing white-noise washes and sweeping pads to roll across the Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat remix. Renowned Buenos Aires-based DJ/Producer Sebastian Busto makes his label debut with December and The Miracle, and the label enlists the remix talents of Dmitry Molosh, Zankee Gulati and Lèrr to create an array of stunning interpretations across another exceptional 5-track onedotsixtwo package.

The pulsating energy of December is immediately mesmerising as Sebastian Busto creates the perfectly beautiful dreamy atmosphere that he is renowned for. Elegantly layered melodies float and flow with flawless precision, as his unique musical vision is showcased magnificently. Following on, The Miracle dives deeper with a wonderfully evocative percussive groove and equally blissful melodic layering that, once again, perfectly displays this Argentine artist’s immense talents to perfection. Having previously released on the likes of Balkan Connection, The Soundgarden and Movement, Sebastian Busto’s onedotsixtwo debut will be a 2020 highlight for sure.

The first December remix comes from Belarusian DJ/Producer Dmitry Molosh. Celebrated for his inimitable progressive sound, Dmitry is at the forefront of the new wave of the current scene as one of its most talented forward thinking electronic artists. His stunning remix is fuelled with funk and fire to create an utterly enthralling ride fuelled with rising anticipation and spine-tingling euphoric elation. 

Through his love of exploring progressive realms of music, the Sydney-based Australian DJ/Producer Zankee Gulati is rapidly making his mark on the scene. A blossoming production career has already seen him exhibit his immense talents on the likes of Clinique, Soundteller, Particles, Visceral, Balkan Connection, and most recently, The Soundgarden. His remix of December has seen exclusive early support from Hernan Cattaneo on his Resident radio show, and it is easy to see why. Deeply hypnotic and with a wonderfully intricate arrangement this is masterfully melodic music of the highest order.

Completing this expansive 5-track package is an utterly blissful remix of The Miracle courtesy of Lèrr. This Montenegrin DJ/Producer is recognised for his unique style combining groovy, deep, melodic, progressive vibes. His enchanting musical creations have appeared on Balkan Connection, Sound Avenue, Asymmetric, Trndmsk and more so far in 2020, and his deeply delicious reworking of The Miracle stands out as one of his finest yet.

Continuing what has been an incredible year, Alex O'Rion returns to Cid Inc's Replug Records with 'The Long Walk'. Having made his label debut in 2019 with the highly regarded 'Marathon' EP, the Dutch artist also lays claim to releases on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music and Nick Warren's Hope Recordings. 2020 has proved to be a prolific year for the talented Dutchman, as he now finds himself as the producer of the moment, following a long line of Beatport Top five remixes and notable DJ support. Now firmly allied with the progressive music elite, Alex makes a welcome return to Replug with a three-track artist showcase. 

Getting the release underway and sitting as one of Alex's most emotive productions to date is the title selection 'The Long Walk'. Warm beats and a full, rolling groove set the foundation for a narrative of wistful arps and uniquely tailored percussion. Pushing a poignant narrative, plush tones and hopeful overlays drift across the framework for impassioned moments, before melting down into a glowing centrepiece. Free and flowing, the interlude spans nearly two minutes in length, gently building tension through muted beats and ethereal phrases, before a trail of vocal gates and waves of noise cue a heartfelt finale.

Equally excellent, the second selection 'Mirari' furthers the EP's whimsical appeal. Smooth, elegant and a touch romantic, the 'Day Mix' delights with its creamy tones and elegant motifs. Thoughtful atmospherics carry the dreamlike storyboard, while pulsating bass lines marry surreal melodic concepts, before an expansive break provides the perfect prelude to a gorgeous final act. The 'Night Mix' sits as a worthy alternative with it's darker, dubbier approach, highlighting the main themes in less distinct fashion while delivering the message with a tougher groove and equally fluid narrative. 

Putting on a stamp on this enthralling collection are the surreal melodies and modern architecture of 'Komodo'. Dark and compelling in equal measure, it's a collage of lively percussion, sprawling synth phrases and otherworldly effects which captivate across the seven-minute journey. Prophetic themes and siren-like synths expand the musical narrative across a cavernous break, gently washing over a rumbling underbelly, heightening the senses and ultimately closing the release out on a mystical note.

As Alex O'Rion continues to navigate a landmark year, his latest Replug vehicle 'The Long Walk' is sure to unite progressive music fans with his undeniable blend of talent, craft and technique.

'A vivid sonic palette glows brightly from a cathedral of sound created by Fernando Olaya. A subterranean bassline from the depths of the Zapiqura salt mines radiates in warm tones. An echo to a French electronic icon reverberates through “Ethnicolor”, sparkling arpeggios ripple outwards in gloriously emotive patterns and sumptuous underlying melody, bound together with driving rhythm and syncopated percussion.
