this bottle started out as empty
as they came along it got heavy
continually filled by sharp words
but the bottle stayed hollow— unbothered.

as dreaded as it may seem
the bottle managed to stay keen
but its narrow neck and wider body
was able to contain what’s unnecessary 

that’s why i fantasize
the bottle
being alone
above the sea
just floating along
because it deserves that—
a break from all the pain

a break from all the pain i say
because the dirt sets aside all of the fray
and in time the bottle will be okay
will be okay

free me
a space away from all the harm
bruised by being warned
