In 1987, he began to get recognized at private house parties. Sertac Kaya started his professional dj career in 1989 at Ankara airport club, where he received considerable help from ugur gundogan during advancement of his career. In 1995, he founded his own radio station, "mix fm 103.4".

Towards the end of 2001 sertac began to make his first music productions professionally as well as being a dj. Sertac met with the ‘pangea recordings’ label with help of the famous dj gianni and his manager nick. The track which he wrote for his dead dog “boncuk” was also the piece which introduced sertac kaya to the world market.

At the beginning of 2006 sertac set up his own label “kaya records” and has released some widely played productions.
