Mixmag 8/10: Coming from the man who brought us the brilliant Black Key Records, Richard Harmer we have a fledgling label from Brighton. They hit the ground running with this ep that will appeal to fans of Disclosure, Mia Dora and BareSkin. With their take on the deep house sound they are fusing beats, bass and garage to produce intelligent electronica. First up we have Chamboche who is normally know for his disco tinged house, but here we find him in broken beat house mode. Session9 turn in a more 4/4 track, with a stunning remix by Ejeca! Finishing off a quality debut ep we have Last Mood with a low riding techy groove. Definitely a new label to watch.

Ben Max Bio...

 After being heavily influenced by the White Sugar Raves, Sterns & Beatroute on the south coast I began DJing in 1993.  By 1994 I was regulalrly playing at 'Tonic' @ The Empire Club. And was lucky enough to play alongside some of the greats such as Kevin Saunderson, John Acquaviva, Mr C, Evil Eddie Richards, Terry Francis, Craig Richards, Nick Warren, Stacey Tough, Femi B. All of which were huge musical influences.
I also DJ'd for Luxuria (Southampton), Gossips (Soho), Conch @ J21 (Leicester),  Leeds Arena, The Escape (Brighton) and owned a Record Shop in my home town during that time.

My main musical influences include :
Hardkiss, Future Sound of London, Leftfield, Massive Attack, Jean Michel Jarre, The Orb, Underworld, Orbital, Prodigy, Deep Dish, Beloved, Fathers of Sound, KLF, LFO, Daft Punk, Masters at Work, Jamiroquai, Kraftwerk, De la Soul, Stereo Mc's, Herbie Hancock, Murk, Intensitive, Ben Watt, Dyed Soundorom & Apollonia to name but a few!
Im into all genres of music, prefer not to pigeon hole, If its good i like it!

My DJ style is deep house and techno, 
Music which grooves and has feeling, and makes you move your feet. 

Chris Tomsett Bio..

I started off my journey into music by DJing at club night's Southern Exposure and "What The Funk" @ the legendary Empire Club in early 2000. Eventually becoming a resident in 2001 playing proper house music to the masses. 
During my time at Empire I played alongside, Terry Francis, Mike Ruff Cut Lloyd, Tuff Jam and Marshall Jefferson to name a few.

From here on I moved into production and started working with Duffnote and Guess Records back in 2004 alongside Richard Earnshaw and Danny Jones.
I have remained a resident artist on both labels and have a had in excess of 20 remixes/releases on both labels including producing Orlando Vaughan "Better Than Never" with Richard and OBI.

Since joining Duffnote I have worked with and also released on labels such as Night Drive Music, Deepology Recordings, Brown Eyed Boyz, Ready Mix Records and DC Trax and have over 90 tracks/remixes on Beatport from 2006.
Along with these releases I have remixed the likes of Spiritchaser, Sebastian Davidson and Stan Kolev. My artist guise of K-Bana has been remixed by Aki Bergen, Scope, Richard Earnshaw, Miguel Migs and Sole Minority.

I have also played at venues such as 360 in Dubai, Guru in Georgia, and The Whitehouse in Clapham throughout my career under the guise of K-Bana.

My main musical interests and tastes tend to change a lot however in the House world I have firm favourites in Jimpster, Andre Lodemann, Knee Deep, Miguel Migs, Chris Lum, Marshal Jefferson, Spiritcatcher and Sebastian Leger

The latest venture is Session 9 with Ben Max which is going to be all about our roots in proper house music and top quality production with our 25 years of combined DJ and production experience.

My DJ style is deep house with a touch of tech and soul but normally it's what ever takes my fancy.
