As both a DJ (read: mixtape specialist) and a graphic designer, Lee Glasspool holds down a bit of a pretty unique niche. Probably better known across the London club scene and beyond under the name, Smutlee, he’s long since traded in a dancefloor ready blend of a lot of different styles constantly traversing through grime, funky, bashment, hip hop, dancehall and more in one of his ‘regular’ sets. Suffice to say he’s played here a hell of a lot as a direct result.

To launch this series, it was only right that we start with this very special recording. We threw a free 'pop up' rave, outdoors on a beautiful, sunny, June afternoon in Bristol with the mighty Raze Sound System. The legendary Randall came through with MC Lowqui and they rolled out in trademark style. All said it was an amazing day but it was also the last time we actually got to see him DJ. Today, in exactly the same spot where this party happened, you can now find an incredible graffitti tribute to Randall. Ahead of joining Portuguese party starters Buraka Som Sistem, Jack Beats and Mele in Room One this coming Friday, we asked one of our favourite mixtape specialists, Smutlee, to fire over another one of his notorious half hour blasts of genre-spanning, heavyweight blends so we could suitably ramp up the hype over the next few days. Of course, we knew that as one of London's fiercest selectors and fast emerging beat-smiths he wouldn't disappoint so when he delivered the goods earlier this week, we responded with a few probing questions to find out about his latest collaboration with Serocee and what he's been up to as of late.

Scott Jenkins had an early start to his music career: while his school mates were out playing football after school, he was already deep into producing music under the name Skepsis. For the last few years he’s been putting out a string of well-received productions and remixes, most of which are tied together by a distinct bass-led sound. 

Jenkins is still only 21, but with peer support and appearances on stations like Rinse FM he’s become one of the bassline’s most recognisable artists. As he lands at FABRICLIVE just one week from now, he sent us over a mix in anticipation of his appearance.
