Ed West returns with an original stripped back jungle work out with vocal duties delivered by none other than the smiley Don Inja, a highly prolific MC who works across all spectrum's of the drum and bass scene.

To accompany Ed's original mix we welcome back some of our label favourites give us their take on the riddim. First up Rahmanee delivers his usual high standard of production! Following on Fleck steps it up a level with a more heavy breakbeat rework and to finish it off Gold Dubs takes us in to the future with some bass heavy artillery !

Welcome to the new 5 track EP entitled Round Here by Born On Road core member and badboy DJ Selecta J-Man. His last outing on the label, The Dancehall Extravaganza EP, received heavy rotation everywhere from Tokyo to Tijuana so it is safe to say there is eager anticipation surrounding this next exciting project.

Title track Round Here, voiced by the understated, underground artist Rider Shafique, effectively takes a rinsing Jungle sound and employs Drum & Bass discipline to produce a New School Jungle sound, as raw as it is tight. Round Here is the edgy, Ragga-tinged dancefloor destroyer that will keep you drawing for it again and again.

Taking the title track up another level is a world class music video from Bing Bong films that draws on some key emotions expressed in Round Here by transporting the viewer into a paranoid world of inner city life. This is not for the feint hearted but is certainly one for a big screen with a loud sound system.

Each of the other 4 tracks on the EP make their own bold statement and have their own individual draw. The Rodigan laced roller ‘Cuss Cuss’, the classic Funk hook of ‘Worldwide’, the moody and tearing ‘Bruk Out’, and finally the collaboration with FLeCK on an old school Jump up sound called ‘Drum Song’; they’re all soundboy killers and there’s definitely and defiantly no fillers.

Guestmix series - #011 – Swayin (BarnTek)

The 11th member of the 141 Guestmix series is BarnTeks resident DJ & founder Swayin!

Swayin is an 18-year-old DJ/Producer and was born in Wimborne but grew up in the Southwest he started mixing in 2017. He began to take an interest in music from an early age, and his preferences range from the steady vibe of classical and hip-hop to the extremes of Dnb and rock music. He mixes the majority of free party genres, but his heart is set on the dark side of drum and bass as shown in his 30-minute mix.  

BarnTek is a notorious Soundsystem founded in 2018 and is located in the Southwest, its origins stem from where they sharpen their mixing skills, this is in the barn which is where the name comes from. It is a big inspiration for what they do, Barntek has a lot of people helping behind the scenes, and they will start to introduce them as time goes on as they are planning on creating their own Guestmix series.

BarnTek has linked up with the other heavyweights of the Southwest like tek services, desolate, Fintan stack. 

Looking towards future BarnTek is looking to get into more ticketed events whilst also staying close to its roots and aiming to get their stack to UKtek and every other banging party around the United Kingdom. Whilst the Covid-19 pandemic has swept across the United Kingdom, BarnTek has invested a lot of energy & time in creating its new Soundsystem. 
Luckily enough for us at 141, we have seen how they do it in the SW, and we can promise you that they mean business. 

As the SW Soundsystem families would say, 'The Southwest do it best.' 😉
