Excited to host Sean Ocean in this June edition of Type III. As one of only a few handful of artists still chugging today who have been carved by the San Francisco rave scene in the 90's, Sean brings us his uncompromising approach. This mix incorporates continuous dynamic low end with leads that bite, offering ample artistic space for internal reflection.

Sean Ocean is a DJ, Producer, Live Act, Promoter, Soundsystem Owner Operator, blogger, music reviewer based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Sean's main focus has been a profound love for techno and electro music stemming from the SF Rave Scene in the 90s, and since then techno has been a driving force in his life. For some people techno is a part time love, for Sean it is a lifestyle choice and his love for it is rooted in the very core of his being. It is Sean's goal as an artist to help synthesize his own knowledge and experience to help advance the world of techno in creative an interesting ways.. from body punishing soundsystem workouts, to artistic creative explorations, to solid grooving jackin tracks, his voice is the continuation and culmination of 30 years of techno music and hopes to help confirm the positive creative direction in techno music for 30 years more.

Next up on the FMB Mixtape series is a mix from Berlin duo DJ Heartstring. As usual, we fired some questions over to find out a bit about the mix & what they’ve been up to recently…

In the past months touring has probably been the biggest part of our daily life. Even though it can be exhausting from time to time, playing all around Europe has been amazing. Apart from playing we have been using every chance we get to go to the studio to make music and process everything that has happened this year.

We recorded the mix at home. It is definitely a different feeling from playing at a club or a festival. But we still had a good time selecting tracks and making sure that we are happy with the result.

With this mix we wanted to showcase a different approach to our sound. We definitely play more Hardgroove and Tribal inspired music in this one, sprinkled with a healthy dose of unreleased material by us and our friends. The mix demonstrates pretty well what we sound like right now when we are playing – more ravey and more impulsive.

This vinyl set was recorded on 19/01/2024 during the PACED event at Drugi DOM (Gdynia, PL).

DJ, collector and promoter of music born in Olsztyn and living in Gdynia. Resident of the Drugi DOM club, where he hosts an event series called "PACED". Responsible for the @polishtechnology project which takes care of publishing respected podcast series, promoting newest releases of techno music and releasing the music as a label. Member of @pplshowcase group which is involved in organizing legal and less legal events in the Tricity scene.

Inspired by the music vision created by music labels such as SK_eleven, KSR, KEY Vinyl or Hayes. He plays fast paced, rhythmic sets also connecting various textures and elements of deep and hypnotic techno. Surrounded by music since his early years. Starting from long, arduous years with classical, electric guitar and drums. He started in 2019 in Gdańsk shipyard’s venue Protokultura. Since then he regularly presents his vision of techno, performing in clubs, festivals and publishing sets for Polish and foreign music platforms playing vinyl or digital.

INDSCY4, also known as Indecipher, began his electronic music journey in 1999, quickly establishing himself as a resident DJ at Labyrinth Detroit, where he played industrial sets. His early releases, including Industro, Industron, and Technopolis V1 and V2, showcased his interest in hard techno, leading to performances at raves, clubs, and the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. In 2006, he joined the industrial group Process42 as a DJ and live electronics remixer, further honing his craft. By 2009, he launched his own Hard Techno solo project, blending his industrial roots with techno, solidifying his distinctive sound in the electronic music scene.
