The Essential Mix is a weekly radio show broadcast on BBC Radio 1 and features many styles of electronic dance music. It was originally the brainchild of Eddie Gordon, the producer of the show from the first broadcast in 1993 to 2001. The show has been presented since its inception by Pete Tong and features an uninterrupted two-hour mix from a different artist each week, overlaid with occasional continuity announcements delivered by Tong. With a broadcast run in excess of 25 years, the Essential Mix is one of the longest-running programmes in the current BBC Radio 1 schedule. It is one of very few Radio 1 shows which is not broadcast live.

Outside of producing new songs, I have been getting some amazing music from my fellow producers. I wanted to record a new set in order to hear some of these choons in my car and on my travels. It felt great to get behind the CDJ's and just "blow off some steam". I get a bit more deep than typical in this set, but still I hope that you enjoy what I have thrown down here. This version has Sasha's Horse with no name Remix as I had always intended to use this track.. Ultra could not secure the license for it in time....

Since first bursting onto the scene with the now classic album Wide Angle in 1999, the Swansea, Wales-based Hybrid have been known as one of the most forward thinking and technically skilled acts in electronic dance music. Blurring the line between in-studio production and live presentation, Hybrid are one of the few remaining dance acts to perform live with a classic band setup.

Their unique style of everything progressive has lead them to international start status, producing music for movies and tv shows as well.

With the world in partial lockdown, this 1-hour LIVE set was specially curated and performed in June 2020 to celebrate Glastonbury 2020 for my friends at the legendary GLADE stage.

I used 8 Ableton decks, 6 channels of live keyboard overdubs, an APC40, Launchkey 61 and 4 full days of my time to lovingly piece this one together.

Sasha presents Last Night On Earth | Show 063 (13.10.20)

Considered one of the pioneers of the Nu Skool Breaks sound and an innovative person in trying out new sounds Adam Freeland was pretty much there at the beginning of the Nu Skool Breaks genre. This mix from 1999 was a kick start of the scene as we know it today for Breaks. Adam had a regular slot on UK's KISS FM with his ground breaking breakbeat show mixing (all in vinyl) a collection of artists that paved the way for a very loved genre at that time.
