Juliette
Musically wistful and lyrically sardonic, Juliette is a breakup song from the perspective of one of the now single partners. A song about how you just weren't right for each other, about how two people can be on totally different pages with no way to reconcile. Opening like some scratched sgt peppers era vinyl, the band are reaching out for as unique a sound-set as possible. Using broken guitar pedals, exotic recording techniques and anything they can get their hands on - it shifts oddly between chords while still sounding like the band found it in an old chord book. The song ends on a 'Man of the World'-esque minor note, as if you might just stay single forever now you've been thoroughly burned by the opposite sex.

The band is mixed by life long friend Tom Longworth (Oscar Lang, Vistas, Bloxx, Spector) and mastered by the award winning Kevin Tuffy (Alfie Templeman, Chaka Kahn, JC Stewart). Along their way the band have also cultivated a close knit group of mentors including Sean Devine (ex VP @ ASCAP) and Ian Burden (Bass, Human League).

We are thrilled to bring you Oznerol Era by Lorenzo Buhne, out on NocturnalSol, a division of Heyday Media Group, as part of our new Musings series. The album is comprised of a group of demos and recordings written, arranged, remastered and recorded by Buhne between 1984 and 1991 during his tenure as the bassist for Los Angeles band’s The Dickies and Fear.

Oznerol Era is the inaugural release on NocturnalSol's Musings series. Musings was created to showcase previously unheard recordings, demos, song sketches, rough mixes, live recordings, and more. Whatever they are, wherever they come from, Musings celebrates these sparks of creativity that are closest to that space that encompasses creative spirit.

The Oznerol Era is a collection of songs from three separate events in my life.

First up are songs from the Oznerol E.P. which was released in 1985 on the ‘Made in Space’ label. It was well received by US College radio, which was quite a thrill.

The second batch which are most of the songs contained here are from a rehearsal/recording which occurred in 1989, with Robert Lansing (aka Enoch Hain) on guitar and Jerry Angel on drums. They were going to be part of an Oznerol follow up release that never happened.

And third is, ’She Likes it!’, a song demoed on my own on the trusty-crusty 4 track Tascam cassette deck, at my place in El Sereno in 1991.

I had actually forgotten about these gems and if it were not for Renee at NocturnalSol for nudging me all of these years to put them out, it wouldn’t have happened.

It is music to be in the mood for so... whenever you feel like letting your hair down or rebelling, this will help you get there

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it.

'Doomsday Clock' covers themes of polarisation, social inequity, climate change, and AI from the perspective of our ordinary day-to-day lives.
