Ce duo, composé de Sig Valax et Nicolas Tourney, propose une expérience singulière d'écoute musicale dans le noir.
Plongeant scène et public dans une obscurité intégrale, Seuil Optique élabore des transmissions électroniques éthérées, fabrique des drones qui oscillent entre bruitisme et voyage cinématique, sublime ces objets du quotidien que nos habitudes avaient rendu inaudibles. En bousculant les frontières entre l’écoute, la manipulation aveugle des machines et l'expérience immersive proposée au public, les deux musiciens recherchent de nouvelles pistes sonores. Cette recherche est aussi une exploration, en dialogue permanent avec les musicalités hybrides et la pratique d'instruments rares. Sur scène, ils utilisent des stratégies d'improvisation volontairement "ouvertes", et s'autorisent après-coup des chemins différés dans la création radiophonique.
Seuil Optique sort son premier EP (Still Crossing) chez Snow in Water Records en juin 2019.

This duo, composed of Sig Valax and Nicolas Tourney, offers a singular experience of listening to music in the dark.
Plunging stage and public in complete darkness, Seuil Optique elaborates ethereal electronic transmissions, manufactures drones which oscillate between noise and kinematic voyage, sublimates those objects of the daily life that our habits had made inaudible. By jostling the boundaries between listening, the blind manipulation of machines and the immersive experience offered to the public, the two musicians seek new sound tracks. This research is also an exploration, in permanent dialogue with hybrid musicalities and the practice of rare instruments. On stage, they use improvisation strategies voluntarily "open", and allow themselves after-the-fact paths in radio creation.
Seuil Optique released its first EP (Still Crossing) at Snow in Water Records in June 2019.

Seuil Optique, duo of Sig Valax and Nicolas Tourney, offers a unique experience of listening to music in the dark. Immersing the stage and the public in constant darkness, Seuil Optique creates soundscapes where electronic transmissions, acousmatic landscapes and refined drones intersect. By jostling the boundaries between listening, blind manipulation of machines and immersive experience offered to the audience, the two musicians explore new sound tracks, in permanent dialogue with hybrid musicalities and the practice of singular instruments: persephone, field recording, electro-acoustic devices, matrices and samples.
On stage, they use deliberately “open” improvisation strategies and defeat the boundaries between manipulating machines in the dark, harmonics tinged with noise-producing materials and the “eyes closed” hearing experience offered to the public.

Seuil Optique’s third album, Les Habitants, focuses on the practice of electronic improvisation. Recorded in three days and three nights, in Paris, in total darkness, Les Habitants aims to be a place of recognition of gesture as a creative act. No preparation beforehand, no benchmark, no intro or climax, only the interaction between two ways of producing spectral imprints. In this sound dialogue, electronics are the vector of total sincerity: the inhabitants target the listener, bringing them to live the experience of the moment that guides the “non-idiomatic” music of Seuil Optique, in which each sound, each transmitted waveform is dedicated to the inhabitants of the present.

Seuil Optique builds frescoes where electronic impulses, slow gestures and acoustic responses intersect. On stage, their improvisations play with conventions, ranging from radical darkness to the experience of pure light.
Oaks, their fourth album, tells the story of an eyeless camera, of a journey beyond the screen. An ephemeral present filled with the memory of this interior film that everyone projects on their eyelids in the evening, sublimating at night into an Absolute composed of expectations.

Seuil Optique construit des fresques où impulsions électroniques, gestes lents et réponses acoustiques s'entrecroisent. Sur scène, leurs improvisations se jouent des conventions, allant d'une obscurité radicale jusqu'à l'expérience de la lumière pure.
Oaks, leur quatrième album, raconte l'histoire d'une caméra sans oeil, d'une traversée au-delà de l'écran. Un éphémère présent rempli du souvenir de ce film intérieur que chacun projette sur ses paupières le soir, sublimant la nuit en un Absolu composé d'attentes.
