UK born and bred, Piers Kirwan is no stranger to DJ’ing and producing good quality house music. One half of Stereo Mutants who have released on Defected, Duff Note, Bubble Soul, Seamless, ONE51 and more. Piers has been DJ’ing since the early 80’s and as well as going to college with Aphex Twin and doing huge warehouse parties in Plymouth in the early 90’s, he has released an extensive amount of music and played alongside the likes of Danny Rampling, Smokin Jo, Alistair Whitehead, XPress 2, Claudio Coccoluto, CJ Mackintosh and many more.

Piers has a distinct style of production that’s clean and precise and does that rough with the smooth thing that we like. It’s hard hitting, atmospheric punchy beats with lush dreamy pads, vocal textures and synth leads that keep you on your toes throughout.
From the wavy synth pads, low punchy bass and snappy beats of the title track Broken Rules and Red Dead, to the more heavier tracks of Ragga Don’t Sweat and Rise Up, with their more upfront broken beat drums, Bass and Ragga vocal samples. It’s all in there, hand crafted for the dance floor, at home, your car, phone, Boombox, whatever! All settings are catered for in this EP!

Brand new year, brand new imprint. CoOp Presents is an all-new record label, founded by IG Culture and Alex Phountzi, set to focus on the depth and wealth of talent that exists within the London Bruk movement and beyond, a project which they consider to be a continuation in the same spirit of the legendary CoOp movement.

Last Summer, the CoOp Presents crew released an EP via First Word Records entitled ‘Selectors Assemble’. This was the first collective offering from a foundation comprised of UK dance music pioneers and nowadays bruk soldiers, navigating in & around the world of broken beat and beyond over the last two decades to the present day. Reinvigorated by recent Boiler Room sessions, the crew proceeded with more parties, more radio shows, and gained access to an unlimited pool of all-new sounds. The squad were primed and ready to move forwards from the famed days of the Plastic People dances, and further explore the evolution of their sound.

Selectors Assemble exists as an umbrella to showcase talent from originators and newcomers alike, transcending genres and geographics. Over the summer, more members were introduced to the clique, and it was clear there was much more work to be done. So we proceed. 
Setting it off, we bring you ‘Selectors Assemble Volume Two’.
The first six-track selection from the stable for 2018. 

James Rudie opens the selection with ‘Port Funk’, a soulful 4/4 stomper, adrift with jazz licks and weighty bassline. Danvers up next with ‘My Nina’, a deep vibesy breakbeat opener that chops away, flipping its groove several times through the track. EVM128 steps up & steps in with the no-messin’ tough tribal bounce of the ‘Gamma Riddim’ next. Cengiz opens up the flipside of the plate with some straight up bruk-funk that rides ‘On On On’. Entekenters the dance with a twisted swagger and next level sonics on ‘Robbery’, ticking numerous groove boxes, before we approach the final cut from N15’s own Miraa May, on the soulful flex of
‘I Don’t Want Ya (Didi)’. The rub on this last one coming courtesy of label founders, NameBrandSound aka IG Culture and Alex Phountzi.

Selectors Assemble appear on rotation monthly on Worldwide FM, as well as numerous other shows and dances individually, including upcoming parties at The Jazz Cafe, and the formation of a new base, The Flex Space, a multi purpose warehouse space in East London. The movement is only destined to grow. The stage for 2018 is set. Get involved.

Saul is a new duo composed of Barney Whittaker (Footshooter) and Jack Stephenson-Oliver (Vels Trio / Poppy Ajudha / Charlotte dos Santos).

The band, having debuted at Brainchild Festival in 2018, have spent the last couple of years working on material for this stunning debut EP Murmurations.

Featuring friends and frequent collaborators Brother Portrait (Steam Down), the 6 track EP simmers with a potent UK energy; paying homage to the sounds of Garage, Jungle and Broken Beat all in the context of the new wave of London Jazz - of which all members of this project are key players.

We are fortunate enough to be premiering the standout track "Earth Rain" featuring breakthrough London Singer Poppy Ajudha. The synergy between Jack on keys and Poppy on Vocals is clear; the two have been playing together for years and combine perfectly on this sun drenched contemporary take on the so called broken-beat style.

All in all, the EP is equally at home in the club as it is in the living room, owing to it’s balance of epicness and musicality. This is undoubtedly a product of London town and couldn’t fit more perfectly with the expansive sound of Rhythm Section INTL.

Contours, a UK based DJ and producer, known for bubbling dance rhythms and undertone melodies focuses on a wide range of organic percussion on this 4 track EP. 

Rounding off the record, we premiere the remix from one of the London underground scene’s key contemporary figures, K15, adding a darker tone to the flow of the track while upping the dancefloor energy of the groove.

Seven Davis Jr. is a singer, songwriter, producer and DJ. Known for releasing various genres of music fusing Dance, Trip Hop, Funk and Soul. 

Referred to as “Sev” by his fans and followers. He is a rogue creative, working with a diverse range of artists (like John Cale, Honey Dijon most recently) behind the scenes in between his own projects. 

He released “Stranger Than Fiction”, his most successful album to date on his own label Secret Angels. Which won the German Record Critics Award for Best New Releases of 2024. His 2025 alias downtempo album titled Mean Bacharach "Sacrifice", was highly rated by Pitchfork. 

He released “Is This The Apocalypse" (EP) on Valentine’s Day 2025. An interlude to his new album titled the “Don’t Crash Out Challenge” out now on all platforms and vinyl.
