In this dark chapter, when it seems like people most need God, He is nowhere to be found. And yet, God is at work in the details, hidden in plain sight. God's providence is on display as a young girl is elevated -- despite difficult circumstances to a position that will one day bring about the preservation of her people. 02 Hidden In Plain Sight

Here, we read of the prophet Micah receiving a message from God, announcing judgment upon Samaria and Jerusalem due to their sins. God declares that He will come down from His heavenly throne and bring destruction upon these cities, with Samaria’s idols, temples, and treasures to be shattered. This passage emphasizes the seriousness of idolatry and the inevitable consequences of turning away from God’s commands.

In this sermon, Pastor Clint walks thru Micah 3:1-12. God condemns the corrupt leaders and prophets of Israel for their injustice and deceit, exploiting the people while claiming God's favor. This passage points to the need for a true and righteous leader, which is fulfilled in Christ, who embodies justice and truth, never compromising or exploiting the vulnerable. Through Christ, God's grace is offered, but not as something to be presumed upon—it calls for repentance and alignment with His kingdom of righteousness.

04 Micah 3:1-12 - Unjust Leaders Judged

Pastor Clint walks us through Micah 4:1-13. This passage presents a vision of hope and restoration, wherein the "last days" the mountain of the Lord's house will be established, drawing nations to seek His ways and walk in peace. War will cease, and God's people will live in security under His reign. Despite present suffering and exile, God promises to gather His scattered people, restore their strength, and make them a powerful force, symbolizing His ultimate victory and the restoration of His kingdom.

05 Micah 4:1-13 - Hope of Future Restoration

In this sermon, Pastor Clint works through Micah 6. God calls His people to remember His faithful acts and asks what He truly requires of them. Rather than sacrifices, God desires a heart committed to justice, mercy, and humility (Micah 6:8). This points to the gospel of Christ, where God’s ultimate requirement is fulfilled in Jesus, who embodies perfect justice and mercy. Through His sacrifice, we are called to live out this gospel by walking humbly with God, reflecting Christ's love and righteousness in our lives.

The prophet closes with assurance of pardon, envisioning a compassionate God who will cast their sins into the depths of the sea—a vision ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ, who, as the Good Shepherd, bears the sins of His people and secures God’s eternal covenant of grace.

09 Micah 7:8-20 - The Gospel According to Micah

In this sermon, Pastor Kevin looks at Malachi 2:1-9. God rebukes the priests for dishonoring His name, corrupting His covenant with Levi, and leading others astray. He warns of curses and disgrace for their unfaithfulness, contrasting their failure with His desire for reverent, faithful leaders. In this sermon, Pastor Kevin looks at Luke 6:1-11. Jesus confronts the Pharisees’ legalism by asserting His lordship over the Sabbath, exposing how their man-made rules miss the heart of God’s law. While the Pharisees are fixated on outward obedience, their hearts are withered—unable to rejoice in mercy, healing, or grace. In contrast, the gospel invites us to a transformed heart shaped by the gospel, where delight in His lordship leads to compassion, humility, and true rest.

19 Luke 6:1-11 - Legalism vs Lordship

In this sermon, Pastor Clint opens up Luke 6:12–26. Jesus forms a new kind of community by calling twelve disciples from among his followers, signaling the beginning of a renewed people shaped by his presence and mission. He then redefines what it means to be blessed, declaring the poor, hungry, weeping, and hated as truly flourishing in God’s kingdom. Finally, he delivers sharp warnings to the rich and self-satisfied, exposing how worldly success can blind the heart to eternal need.

In this sermon, Pastor Clint opens up Luke 6:24–36. Jesus warns the rich and comfortable that their earthly rewards are fleeting, while calling his followers to love their enemies, do good, and give generously without expecting anything in return. He teaches that true righteousness goes beyond loving those who love you—it reflects God's mercy. Just as God is kind to the ungrateful and evil, so his children are called to be merciful, embodying his character in a broken world.

21 Luke 6:24-36 - Love Your Enemies

In this sermon, pastor Clint walks thru Luke 6:37–49. Jesus teaches that true integrity begins with a heart transformed by the gospel. He warns against hypocrisy—judging others while ignoring one’s own sin—and calls for honest self-examination and inner renewal. In this sermon, Andrew Davies considers diligence. Proverbs teaches that diligence is wise and fruitful, warning that laziness leads to poverty and hardship (6:6–11; 10:4–5). The diligent plan ahead, work steadily, and walk a straight path, avoiding the thorns of procrastination and excuses (15:19). Christ, the perfectly diligent one, accomplished the work of our salvation with unwavering purpose—His diligence now empowers us to work faithfully in His strength, not our own.

05 Diligence

In this sermon, Pastor Clint looks at Reconciliation. In the Proverbs, God calls us to pursue reconciliation through truthful speech, respect, guarding confidences, and covering offenses in love rather than repeating them. Such wisdom resists our natural impulses toward bitterness, gossip, or revenge, instead urging humility, patience, and a commitment to restore trust. Our ability to do this flows from the forgiveness of Christ, who reconciled us to God at the cross and now empowers us to extend that same mercy to others.

06 Reconciliation

In this sermon, Pastor Clint looks at the topic of our speech. Proverbs teaches us that our words have great power—they can either wound or heal, destroy trust or build life-giving relationships. What flows from our lips ultimately reveals the condition of our hearts, for “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” In Christ, our hearts are renewed by grace, so that our words can become instruments of truth, love, and encouragement that honor God and bless others.

In this sermon in our Proverbs: The Way of Wisdom series, Pastor Clint considers Anger. Proverbs warns that unchecked anger leads only to strife, destruction, and foolishness, revealing how deeply broken our hearts are. Trying to control our tempers on our own is like trying to hold back a flood with our bare hands—it shows our need for something greater than self-discipline. Only the gospel of Christ gives us new hearts, where God’s Spirit replaces wrath with peace and empowers us to respond with patience and love.

In this final sermon in our Proverbs series, Pastor Kevin looks at what Proverbs says about the inner life. Proverbs teaches that the heart is the inner life—the wellspring of thoughts, desires, and choices that directs everything we do. Scripture helps us diagnose the heart as prone to sin, deceit, and divided affections, while also showing how it is shaped by external influences such as people, words, wealth, and suffering. And as sinners, sufferers, and saints, we experience this reality in all its depth—yet through the gospel of grace in Christ, God restores the heart, cleansing it, giving new desires, and filling it with wisdom and life.

09 The Inner Life

In this sermon, Pastor Clint works through Luke 7:1–10. The centurion, longing for his servant to be healed by Jesus, displays a faith in Christ that is dependent, looking not to his own worthiness but relying wholly on Jesus’ authority to heal. He is also humble, recognizing his unworthiness to have Christ even enter his home. Most of all, his faith is anchored, resting with confidence in the power of Jesus’ word alone, which amazes the Lord Himself.

23 Luke 7:1-10 - Marvelous Faith

In this sermon, Pastor Clint works thru Luke 7:11-17. In this passage, Jesus meets a widow grieving the death of her only son and, filled with compassion, tells her not to weep. With divine authority, He touches the bier and commands the young man to arise, restoring him to life. This act reveals that Jesus is not merely a prophet but the Lord of life Himself, the One who conquers death and brings hope to His people.

24 Luke 7:11-17 - Jesus Stops The Funeral

In this sermon, Pastor Clint walks thru Luke 7:18–35. John the Baptist wrestles with doubt in prison, wondering if Jesus is truly the One, yet Jesus meets his weakness not with rebuke but with a gracious reminder of His works and His fulfillment of God’s promises. Christ shows that honest doubts can be brought to Him, because He responds with compassion and truth that strengthens faith. The call for us is clear: to lay aside wavering hearts and respond to Jesus in faith, for He is the promised Savior who brings life and wisdom to all who trust Him.

Often we desire a feeling of belonging without the responsibility of commitment. The desire for the first without the pursuit of the second leaves us with neither. It's when we belong to a local church that we experience the fullest expression of being the people of God, filled with the presence of God, set apart for the purposes of God in the world.
