In one way or another for all of us there is a person so deeply knotted to Leipzig since our very beginnings in this town that it's kinda impossible to imagine us without his influence as a role model on so many levels: housemusic, dance moves, deejaying, doin' your own thing, kindness, and most important: as a friend. We talk about Alex Neuschulz aka Sevensol.

Part of the allmighty Manamana, part of Kann Records, Long Vehicle, Soft Skills, discogs business angel and in case you didn't know he's also a private investigator working with all human senses to complete his rogue missions, Just call 1800 – Neuschulz Ermittelt.

Three years ago we asked him to record a mix for our podcast series but for the first and only time we also suggested a musical order: a special mix of Sevensols own definition of Acid-House. To temporarily restore the countless feelings of joy we had when out of the blue he dropped this one chicago tune you almost forgot but instantly remembered why you once fell in love with house music. 
Here we are now and honestly, there were some moments in the last years we thought it would never happen. But damn it, it was worth every second waiting.

Sevensol is a splendid producer, DJ and label boss. Kann, the label of which he co-founded alongside Bender, has become one of the best and most significant in a new wave of record labels championing House music in Europe. A figurehead of the Leipzig underground music scene Sevensol cut his teeth at record stores across the city, working behind the counters and gathering a wealth of knowledge which would go on to inform and inspire his own taste and perspective as a DJ.

His music is often deep, pensive and driven by emotions. This is perhaps best noted on his own productions, upon which he works with Bender to craft stripped back, textural music which tugs at the heartstrings as much as it moves the feet.

As a DJ Sevensol’s style is innovative and unique, seeking to take dancers on a journey through multiple genres and styles, all with ethereal undertones. Sevensol is also one half of the DJ duo Manamana alongside Map.ache.

We invited him to record this mixtape a little while back and now that it’s shown up it doesn’t disappoint.

Sevensol: The Ransom Note Mix

Sevensol is undoubtedly one of the most charismatic figures to have garnered the support of music heads in recent years. He’s now based in Berlin, and a purveyor of the finest house, with a long-standing collaboration with Map.ache titled Manamana, a third of the duties at record label KANN and now Long Vehicle vying for his attention; when he isn’t enchanting crowds at De School or Nachtdigital that is. There’s nothing pretentious about him or his craft, just fun, unfussy, pleasure-inducing house with a measure of emotion woven through his mixes. Uplifting beats for breezy summer nights - if you’re looking for the perfect score for the coming months, Sevensol has you more than covered. Bassiani Podcast 176 is a cut from his set at the Morevi Records night back in June at Horoom. One that charms and channels the kind of pure optimistic peak time energy that's sure to get you moving. Groovy house from Leipzig’s finest.

The set that was probably the most requested was of course Manamana's final set. The dream duo from Leipzig was interwoven with the Nachti family, in fact a part of it, like no other DJ couple. 

The last hours of their journey can now be heard with a little melancholy and joy for the beautiful hours. You can definitely hear the many grinning faces and the dozens of hugs in front of and behind the booth on this Nachtipod. In this sense, there is not much more to say than farewell Manamana and all the best to Sevensol and Mapi, we love you.
