Never Forget Where You Came From

A Rework of Kissey Asplund's cover of Creep by Radiohead. 

Busted this one out on the train ride home from Colorado... featuring samples taken from the train station at Grand Junction. 

Kissey's vocals are so painfully beautiful, it was difficult to decide what sounds to add that wouldn't detract from her performance... the end result is very minimal, atmospheric and emotional.

What's up, friends? It's been a while. What a crazy year this has been so far! I wanted to make a little something for you to listen to while sheltering-in-place. I don't know about you, but the experience of 2020 has caused me to reflect a lot on human suffering and my capacity for compassion and forgiveness. I recorded this set, with these concepts in mind. It's far from perfect—Admittedly, I'm a bit rusty after 6 years off—but rather than dwell on its imperfections, I thought maybe releasing it into the wild could serve as a meditation on surrender and the art of letting go. We're all works-in-progress, after all.

Hindsight Is 2020

For magic episode 23, we turn the controls over to a self-proclaimed “missionary of music,” Sacramento’s SeventhSwami. Representing the Ambient Mafia, WantIt, and Escape Artists, Swami is the artchetypical DJ as shaman, his mission to “Raise more people’s spiritual awareness through the ecstatic dance experience.”
His methodology combines orthodox DJ methods with live sampling, digital effects, and improv remixing. His sound draws upon diverse influences including downtempo, IDM, hip-hop, and psytrance. The result is funky, intelligent, and decidedly Northern Californian.

Solitude (feat. Azeron Gonzalez)

Steve Wishman’s love for electronic music can be traced back to childhood attempts at remixing video game music with live drum tracks and creating mashups on loops of tape. One day his friend and guru pointed out that you can rearrange the letters of his name to spell SeventhSwami, and the missionary of music was born. Swami joined The Ambient Mafia in 2006, bringing with him an eclectic mix of emotional sounds, and is grateful to have been a fixture in the NorCal electronic music scene during the formative years of Glitch and Dubstep. In 2009 he released Here For Now on Muti Music, and in 2010 he released the Ghosts EP. In 2020, after a long break he released The Cosmic Giggle EP. A regular at Lucidity and Symbiosis Events, SeventhSwami has been fortunate to share the stage with with legendary artists, and has hosted the chill stage at Stilldream, bringing new faces and styles to the forefront. 

After a 10 year hiatus SeventhSwami is back with his new side project, Sacred Spaces. Formed in 2022, Sacred Spaces creates Ambient / Future Garage / Chillstep sounds designed to spread the Dharma and guide listeners to the present moment
