Yamaha MU100 + PLG100DX

This song's life began as a solo work, however since I ran out of steam with working on it, Cryptovolans volunteered to pick it up, and had free reign to take it in a different direction and put their own spin on it. Cryptovolans didn't have access to the Yamaha MU100 & PLG100DX I was using, instead using the S-YXG50 soft synthesizer as a close approximation, so I remained involved in the sound production & recording for the song. There was back-and-forth with us bouncing ideas off each other, me making mix/instrument/DSP adjustments on our behalf, recording takes and sending them back, and adding a few extra musical parts of my own.

I used AI tools only during the initial planning stage to understand the general structure and stylistic elements of the electro swing genre (such as approximate intro, loop, and outro durations). The actual music production was entirely done in FL Studio using original arrangements and instruments such as Splice samples, Serum, Serum 2, Phase Plant, and FLEX. I manually built and arranged each track to ensure they are seamlessly loopable and stylistically coherent. No generative AI (audio or text-to-music) was used in the actual audio creation. The cover image was generated using AI to visually represent the haunted horror carnival theme of the music pack.

SOUNDSHOCK is back to conclude the FM FUNK trilogy. FM FUNK NIRVANA!! brings you 16 new tracks by 19 uniquely talented musicians, from four different continents, using an arsenal of 17 different hardware and software FM synthesizers. 

Although this release marks the end of the series, our hope is that we’ve inspired listeners and musicians enough to carry our message further, and to keep reinventing FM sounds for decades to come! "That is", in the words of Tsuyoshi Shimokura, "not a sad thing." No indeed; rather, we believe this calls for celebration: let’s get it started!
