We had the opportunity to interview Umbraid recently, and he shared some fascinating insights about his journey in the techno music scene.

We asked him how he first got interested in techno music and what drew him to it. He explained that he had previously been in a rock band, playing the guitar and singing. The band was already exploring electronic music and using synths and drum samples. However, his true introduction to techno came when he attended Dour Festival a few years later. The experience was mind-blowing, and upon returning home, he was inspired to start producing techno music.

When it comes to selecting tracks for his sets, Umbraid considers three main criteria: energy, funniness, and uniqueness. These factors play a crucial role in curating the music for his performances. In terms of preparing for a DJ set, he shared an interesting routine. He usually creates a tracklist but doesn't stick to it during the actual performance. He also humorously mentioned that he enjoys DJing with the laptop's trackpad on trains and airplanes. Adapting his sets to different venues and audiences is essential for Umbraid. He pays close attention to the event's lineup, which helps him gauge the audience's expectations. He also emphasized the importance of providing a dynamic performance with ups and downs.

He mentioned some artists and producers in the techno scene whom he admires and draws inspiration from, including Funk Tribu, Part Time Killer, and Marlon Hoffstadt. As for his current favorite tracks, he listed "Nanana" by Mietze Conte, "Out of Luck" by K, and "Close your Eyes" by Ivri and Tomcbumpz.

When asked about the perfect BPM, he noted a range between 150 and 160, depending on the energy of the audience. He also shared his perspective on the evolution of the techno music scene during his career. He observed that it has become more popular, harder, and faster, to the point where he believes it can no longer be strictly defined as "techno." As a result, he prefers to call his music "Hard Dance/Trance."

Finally, I asked him about his experience playing for SFEERBEHEER. He expressed his excitement about playing in Flanders, as he has a fondness for partying there. He was not disappointed and had a great time performing after Eargasm God. He appreciated the unique setup of the DJ booth, which was at the same level as the audience, with people all around, adding to the overall atmosphere of the event.

Peter Blue is a 21 year old Colombian artist currently based in Buenos Aires. Strongly influenced by Latin American electronic music, Peter finds a balance between the best of fast groove and Latin club, creating a proposal with many contrasts and musical colors.
His musical beginnings lie in his adolescence, where he created some projects outside the world of electronic music. 
The pandemic led him to discover the origin and fall in love with the essence of Rave. There he had to rebuild his artistic career towards what he liked the most: Techno.
His artistic discourse quickly led him to play in different spaces of the local scene in Buenos Aires and Bogota.
At the beginning, Peter’s music did not stop playing in different niches of the Techno scene with tracks like “Bakalao” and “Fuego”. With his debut EP “B.P.N.P”, he would take his music all over the world. In April 2023, he would start his record label PA$TI Records, a space made by him, for the artists he admires. In December 2023, he would debut at UnderClub; the home of techno in Argentina. Opening for an artist of international stature such as Vendex. Later he announced his European tour in October 2024.
Peter has always been a 100% independent artist but has had the pleasure of releasing for labels such as OBSCURE, Gomboc Records, Muakk. He has had support from artists like Boyz Noise and Funk Tribu one at Ultra Tokyo 2022 and Intercell Amsterdam.
PETERBLUE prepared the best of their selection. Again a fusion of his roots/origins with electronic elements with a lot of swing and groove. Focusing on the energy and the continuous surprise element in the set. Latin America and electronic beats in one mix.
