Bhai Gurdas Ji was from the illustrious family of Bhalla clan to Baba Ishar Das Ji and Mata Jivani Ji. Baba Ishar Das was the younger brother of Sri Guru Amar Das Ji. Bhai Gurdas’s birth was during the Guruship of Sri Guru Amar Das Ji in Goindwal Sahib somewhere in the year 1616 Bikarmi (1559 CE. Their name was kept in the presence of Sri Guru Amar Das Ji as, ‘Gurdas’ (the servant of the Guru- Guru Amar Das Ji. Bhai Gurdas Ji was 4 years older in age to Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji.Bhai Gurdas Ji’s life is a lighthouse of Gursikhi guiding Sikhs till today to the correct path of Gurmat. Their compositions whether in Varaan or Kabitt explains with beautiful examples on the thinking of a Gursikh and how a though process of Gursikh should be. Bhai Gurdas Ji was a Pooran Brahmgiani and a scholar who is able to explain complex concepts in very simple words

On 1st of Jeth 1767 Bikarmi (1710 CE), the dream and thirst of every Sikh to avenge the martyrdom of the Chhote Sahibzade was quenched when Nishan Sahib was raised over Sirhind and Wazir Khan punished to death. In order to achieve this mission, 6,000 Sikhs laid down their lives in this battle which marked the dawn of Khalsa Raj in Punjab.
