Guru Sahib's Rules 1 - Giani Bhagwan Singh Ji

This 4th episode of Rah-e-Mohabbat covers the Gursikhi behaviour of Niv Chalna or selfless humility in all conduct. It is the virtue of humility without any expectation in return. Niv Chalna can only be learnt from the Guru. The greatness in Guru’s house is gauged by how low one proclaims him/herself and the one who looses has actually won. The Guru is the protector of the low and we can only enjoy His protection if we are low/humble.

The 5th Episode covers, Sidak or faith. Sidak is to have an unshakable believe and conviction that the Guru is the sole saviour and the most precious. It is the complete trust and confidence that Guru Ji is the greatest. Sidak is also to love Guru Ji above the mind, body, wealth. Sikhs throughout time have shown exemplary Sidak and has thus laid the direction on this path of Gurmat for all of us. 5. Rah - E-Mohabbat- Sidak

Karam is a law that binds the entire creation. It is a system where in, one reaps what he has sowed. The rewards for the deeds are given in heaven and hell. Fate (Paralbhad) can never be erased unless the Guru is benevolent. Having a Guru in life is a sign of great fortune/fate. Guru is the sole way out of this endless cycle of reincarnations and its cause, Karam

6. Rah - E-Mohabbat- Karam

The 7th episode is on Bhana which is the continuation from the previous episode of Karam. Bhana is the inevitable destiny or reality as written in Pralbhad. Bhana is also known as ‘Hukam’ and Rjaa. Bhana cannot be changed. Acceptance of Bhana or the inevitable only comes to those whom the Guru imparts his grace (Nadar).
While accepting Will with pleasure, a Gurmukh never expects for liberation or anything else beside the sanctuary of Guru’s feet.

ni(n)dhau ni(n)dhau mo kau log ni(n)dhau ||
ਜਗਤ ਬੇਸ਼ੱਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰੇ, ਬੇਸ਼ੱਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਔਗੁਣ ਭੰਡੇ
Slander me, slander me - go ahead, people, and slander me.

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਖਰੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥
ni(n)dhaa jan kau kharee piaaree ||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ
Slander is pleasing to the Lord's humble servant.

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਬਾਪੁ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਮਹਤਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ni(n)dhaa baap ni(n)dhaa mahataaree ||1|| rahaau ||
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾ ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਾਪੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਗੁਣ ਵਧਦੇ ਵੇਖਣਾ ਲੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਭੀ ਔਗੁਣ ਨਸ਼ਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਭਲੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਲਈ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ) ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Slander is my father, slander is my mother. ||1||Pause||

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਇ ਤ ਬੈਕੁੰਠਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
ni(n)dhaa hoi ta baiku(n)tt jaieeaai ||
ਜੇ ਲੋਕ ਔਗੁਣ ਨਸ਼ਰ ਕਰਨ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ 
If I am slandered, I go to heaven;

ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਮਨਹਿ ਬਸਾਈਐ ॥
naam padhaarath maneh basaieeaai ||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਔਗੁਣ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ ਧਨ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ 
the wealth of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides within my mind.

ਰਿਦੈ ਸੁਧ ਜਉ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
ridhai sudh jau ni(n)dhaa hoi ||
ਜੇ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਸੁੱਧ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਡੀ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਜੇ ਸੁੱਧ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਅਸੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਔਗੁਣ ਨਸ਼ਰ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਸੁਣੀਏ) ਤਾਂ 
If my heart is pure, and I am slandered,

ਹਮਰੇ ਕਪਰੇ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਧੋਇ ॥੧॥
hamare kapare ni(n)dhak dhoi ||1||
 ਤਾਂ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਸਾਡੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ 
then the slanderer washes my clothes. ||1||

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਹਮਰਾ ਮੀਤੁ ॥
ni(n)dhaa karai su hamaraa meet ||
(ਤਾਂ ਤੇ) ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਭੰਡਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਾਡਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ
One who slanders me is my friend;

ਨਿੰਦਕ ਮਾਹਿ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਚੀਤੁ ॥
ni(n)dhak maeh hamaaraa cheet ||
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸਾਡੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਅਸੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਬੜੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ) ।
the slanderer is in my thoughts.

ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਸੋ ਜੋ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਰੈ ॥
ni(n)dhak so jo ni(n)dhaa horai ||
(ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚ) ਸਾਡਾ ਮੰਦਾ ਚਿਤਵਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਹ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਾਡੇ ਐਬ ਨਸ਼ਰ ਹੋਣੋਂ ਰੋਕਦਾ ਹੈ । 
The slanderer is the one who prevents me from being slandered.

ਹਮਰਾ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਲੋਰੈ ॥੨॥
hamaraa jeevan ni(n)dhak lorai ||2||
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਤਾਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਇਹ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਾਡਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਚੰਗਾ ਬਣੇ ।੨।
The slanderer wishes me long life. ||2||

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹਮਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
ni(n)dhaa hamaree prem piaar ||
ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਸਾਡੀ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਉਂ ਤਿਉਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, 
I have love and affection for the slanderer.

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹਮਰਾ ਕਰੈ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥
ni(n)dhaa hamaraa karai audhaar ||
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸਾਡੀ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਔਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਬਚਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।
Slander is my salvation.

ਜਨ ਕਬੀਰ ਕਉ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
jan kabeer kau ni(n)dhaa saar ||
ਸੋ, ਦਾਸ ਕਬੀਰ ਲਈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਔਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਸ਼ਰ ਹੋਣਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵਧੀਆ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ ।
Slander is the best thing for servant Kabeer.

ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਡੂਬਾ ਹਮ ਉਤਰੇ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੩॥੨੦॥੭੧॥
ni(n)dhak ddoobaa ham autare paar ||3||20||71||
ਪਰ (ਵਿਚਾਰਾ) ਨਿੰਦਕ (ਸਦਾ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਔਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਔਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਡੁੱਬ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਅਸੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਔਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਚੇਤਾਵਨੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਦੇ ਹਾਂ ।੩।੨੦।੭੧।
The slanderer is drowned, while I am carried across. ||3||20||71||
