“…Hindu worship is truly democratic in spirit. One can choose the form of the Lord suitable to one’s own disposition from among the forms presented by the Vedic sages. One of the most important and popular of these forms is Ganapati.
The Lord is called Siva, the auspicious, since for the devotee, the Lord alone is auspicious and sacred. The creative faculty, or the infinite power of the Lord is Sakti, also called Parvati in the Puranas. Ganapati is the offspring of Siva and Sakti, a combination of the attribute-less Brahman and the power that is the origin of the universe. Thus, Ganapati is the saguna (with attributes) Brahman.
Etymologically, Ganapati means the Lord of the groups. In this creation, all living beings exist and thrive in groups, each of these groups being a gana. This psychology of living in groups equally applies to the gods, the humans and other life forms. All these groups exist in one Supreme Reality, the Brahman. That is why It is called Ganapati – the Supreme Lord of the ganas.”

an ocean of infinite love and compassion 

śrīgurustotam Verses in reverential praise of the teacher

akhaṇḍamaṇḍalkāraṃ vyāptaṃ yena carācaram tatpadaṃ darśitaṃ yena tasmai śīgurave namaḥ (1)
Salutations to that guru who showed me the abode—the one who is to be known— whose form is the entire universe and by whom all the movables (animals) and immovables are pervaded.
ajñānatimirāndhasya jñānāñjanaśalākayā cakṣurunmīlitaṃ yena tasmai śrīgurave namaḥ (2)
Salutations to that guru who opened the eyes of the one blind due to the darkness (cover) of ignorance with the needle (coated) with the ointment of knowledge.
gururbrahmā gururviṣṇuḥ gururdevo maheśvaraḥ gurureva paraṃ brahma tasmai śrīgurave namaḥ (3)
Salutations to that guru, who is the Creator, Sustainer, and Destroyer, and who indeed is the limitless Brahman.
