With Family Matters Pt1 'Xx Isis xX - her real name Isis Kuaygarond
- gives her solo debut on Shaddock Records. 
“Two Faces” is a very personal track, a reflection of how Isis felt inside when writing it as childhood Traumas resurfaced; she wrote melody and lyrics in one burst of inspiration. 
The result is a sublime mid-tempo pop-house gem that combines the melancholic deepness of early NYC house music with glistening synth melodies and Isis’s smooth yet distinct singing style. 
The first Remix comes by Isis’s husband, techno superstar Mathew Jonson. His take is a deeply personal and lovingly crafted one, which strays from the uptempo dancefloor style which he has perfected as a solo artist and part of Cobblestone Jazz.
Instead we are treated to a slowly swinging groove and dreamy
synths until Jonson raises the stakes with expert edits and dubby
production tweaks. 
The second remix is produced by Miami's veteran Latin freestyle producer Jorge Ojeda,. His obscure 1990s banger “Betrayal” has recently been reissued on Shaddock records, backed by a cover version from Mr & Mrs Jonson aka Mathew and Isis. 
Now Jorge is returning the favor perfectly complementing Isis’s vocals with his authentic brand of Miami freestyle synths and
brilliantly funky 80s-style electro beats.

SHK11 (Preview) - Xx Isis xX - Family Matters Pt.1

The 2nd part of Isis' Family Matters series shows a different side of her: “after all the years spent working and dancing in clubs, she wanted to prove to herself that she could write a house track. She wrote the track on her first studio date right after moving to Berlin with her boyfriend and now husband.”

Through The Night is an accomplished proof of Isis’s intentions: An uptempo house track that is at the same time driving and introspective, romantic and nocturnal. Clocking in at close to 9 minutes, it nicely captures both Isis’s live changes at the time and the summer mood of her new home.

Family does matter - so this time around her brother-in-law Nathan Jonson (aka Hrdvsion) is taking over remix duties, and he does so in distinguished fashion, turning “Through the Night” into a wobbly, twitchy, cut-up party monster across two different versions. Definitely a secret weapon for any house DJ that craves for fidgety vibes, anthemic vocals, and a bombastic drop to play at the right time.

The final track of the pack is once mote a take by Latin freestyle veteran Jorge Ojeda, whose remix brings out those 80s Miami bass vibes

Augie Robles (the photographer) spotted an elementary school class of around 25 children with two teachers suddenly appear scaling the momentous stair case behind our subject!
They shouted;
“Sr. Sapo! Sr. Sapo!”
the name has stuck! they wanted to have their pictures taken with Sr. Sapo? however; they did not want to touch him as they thought his skin might be “viscoso” or “slimy”?

“Q’uq’umatz” (as it is known amongst the K’iche’ Maya) goes back to the Olmec culture and represents the duality of flight to reach the skies; whereas the reptilian (in most cases a snake) represents the ability to mingle amongst other creatures of the Earth;
Among the Aztecs he was related to the gods of wind; of the dawn; of merchants and arts; crafts; knowledge and the planet Venus: as well as their patron god of the priesthood…

THE FUTURE S0UND 0f YESTERDAY is as well a construct of the imagination; a fictitious “orchestra” with many imaginary characters; KENT CHESTERFiElD; LEE NAilZ; PHATTITUDE; EPiPHANY TALEUR; ThE ClARKETTES (they actually exist in the “real” world)…

The titles:
“0de to A Tree”;
is the culmination of a night out in Berlin; “…met a young man in a bar close to the “atelier”; he said he wanted to play something on a piano; we go to the place and he plays this melody over a rhythm though not in rhythm?
…basically edited none of it; then used a series of tone generators and filters to change the sound into all the soundscapes you hear in the final piece; the title was simply a tribute to the trees…” Eric D. Clark

“is it good to Ya’?”;
is a slow pumping House song with a message in the form of a question; “is it good for you?” as in “I could do it; however; should I? you know; look in a mirror and ask the question”…
the Music came about as an experiment at NADEL EiNS Studio in Berlin; Heavy bass at around 116bpm plus Erix’s cheeky vocal stylings weaving in & out of frame (as well key) deliver a unique aural experience!

the final track:
“Elsewhere playback”
is literally the playback of a track Eric did under the guise of KENT CHESTERFIELD for a party series he did in Sacramento CA with AJ Sachs…
it’s really just a tool; the good thing is you can drop -8 (or -16 assuming your tables are tuned) to bring it to a tempo one could easily rap over OR push it up to +8 and have a dry Tech number? Either way it BANGS! Dub Plates & Mastering did a swell job!!

overall a must for any Dance Music aficionado’s collection out on October 10th on SHADDOCK RECORDS !

For its seventh release Shaddock unearths a genre-defining piece of music overlooked by even the most thorough of crate diggers, backed by a storming Hercules & Love Affair remix.

'New York, New York' by DeeKay Jones, is an electrifying piece of hypnotic electric-disco-wave, produced in the eponymous city's concrete jungle back in 1981. It's a track that had all the potential to propel dance music forward: Relentless drum computer beats that predate techno - and even Chicago house - by years. A minimalistic synth hook that sounds more futuristic than any cutting edge dance record available at the time. And brilliantly overdubbed chants (taken from a 1970 The Last Poets album), which anticipated sample culture and should have made this an anthem.

Yet, it never happened. 'New York, New York' only appeared on an obscure compilation titled 'The Pulse Of New York' in 1983 that went largely unnoticed. It has brought its two producers, Dennis Kelley and Bruce Grant neither fame nor fortune. Kelley went on to produce recordings by artists such as Mike Ladd, while Grant, who passed away in 2009, remained a brilliant bed-room tinkerer, whose experimental tape manipulations drew praise from hip-hop artists like El-P and even prompted a New York Times portrait (titled “The Hip Hop Man”) in 1997.
'New York, New York' is accompanied by two more unreleased DeeKay Jones tracks from the same era: 'Hirasaki' showcases Bruce Grant's work with tape recorders playing at varying speeds over a slow, Man Parrish-style electro beat, and the equally daring 'Feel It In Your Gut', which has Grant simulate free jazz saxophones by spinning bird-call recordings on a turntable by hand.

Who would be better suited to pay homage to the pairs under-appreciated genius than NYC's favourite adopted son, Andy Butler a.k.a. Hercules & Love Affair who is teaming up with his Viennese buddies Ha-Ze Factory. Staying true to the original track's feel and rhythm, his remix transports 'New York, New York's rarely exploited floor-filler qualities into the year 2013, opening a time-distorting worm hole between Shaddock's alternate universe and the one we strut our stuff in.

Opening track 'T_DD_T_RR_Y' sees kicking beats with a genealogy harking back to finest Chicago house, yet done with contagious feather-light energy of UK funky and a naughty bassline gliding perfectly between cheeky rave chords and their moody older brother. 'S_MPLE_HOUSE' continues with this blindingly effective simplicity, dreamily muted chord stabs, rolling congas in ecstatic space over a warm round bass. 

On the flip on 'AUT_REPEAT', crystalline synth shards coalesce in complex forms and continue in icey determination as the beat sneaks up underneath, propelling into an absolutely blistering workout. 'DJSN_K' rounds up on a perky high, an ebullient synthline with crunch and a punchy beat so frontal it might make you blush.

Driven by hard electro beats and Jorge Ojeda’s signature, Miami Bass with Latin Hip Hop/ Freestyle Dance grooves, “Betrayal” when initially released on Ojeda's Destune records became a club and street phenomenon in Miami.
On the B side Mr. & Mrs.Jonson aka Mathew Jonson and Isis Kuaygarond created an incredible cover version keeping the Electro and Freestyle spirit but taking arrangement and production to the next level and thus into 2018.
Mathew and Isis, after their recent marriage have spent endless hours in the studio and with Betrayal - the couple’s very 1st release - they are giving us a first insight into their joint musical vision.

On the heels of the success of Tin Man’s - S_MPL_HOUSE EP Shaddock is proud to welcome another true master for the label’s fifth release: J.T.C.

Originally produced for Tim Sweeny’s ‘Beats in Space’ radio show the title track was heard in one of J.T.C’s DJ sets during a night out in Berlin and was signed to Shaddock on the spot. Heavy on the synths with a stirring bass-line and a driving 808, ‘Beats In Space’ is destined to shake-up every dance-floor.

Stepping up for his first ever remix duty is no other than Madteo of Meakusma, Workshop or Joy Orbison’s Hinge Finger fame, who added his unique signature of twisted, hypnotic left-field house, aptly titling his re-work 'Mad in Space’.

On the flip J.T.C showcases his more melodic side as well as his versatility as a producer. ‘The First Night Cycle’, feat. Ellis Monk is a metabolic track clocking in at eight minutes developing over time, all the while under-laid with James T. Cotton’s ceaseless heavy grooves.

‘Love Canopy And Vessels’ finishes this little gem in the best Detroit/ Chicago house fashion.

Our sixth outing features the young talented L.A. based artist Jeremy Berman aka Factory Aire, including remixes by two longtime companions DJ Stingray and Atom™ as well as the ominous Auxon. 

Following Tin Man’s and J.T.C’s raw house excursions Shaddock takes a sharp left. The original title - B.O.Y is an epic-futuristic track, rich in complexity and varied melodic levels subtley playing with heavy, stomping beats. 

Not other than expected DJ Stingray delivers a stunning rework with his unique, fast paced blend blurring the borders between Jungle, Electro and Bass Music while Atom™, returns to his old Acid House heights dropping a 120 bpm house killer. Auxon's high-energy rerub puts a more modern touch to this disco-spacey crusade adding some vital sparks of trance.
