Now entering its 20th year, the Canadian festival has made a lasting impression on DJ and festival culture around the globe with its world class production and talent. At the heart of this festival is the Fractal Forest - one of 6 incredibly unique stages. The brainchild of Rich-E-Rich and Fractal Media, the Fractal is complete with a 360 degree dancefloor, PK Sound system, and more lasers than you can imagine. Since 1999 it’s been home to a diverse collection of producers and turntablists representing a special side of the Shambhala sound focusing on Funk, Breaks, Bass, HipHop, DnB, and Turntablism. It’s unique lineup boasts a who’s who list of global innovators in their scene and we couldn’t be more proud to represent that for the very first time in the debut Fractal Forest Compilation. Shad (Shadrach Kabango) is a Canadian recording artist of Rwandan descent, raised in London Ontario. He is known for blending humour and weighty themes, inspiring positivity while exploring a range of sounds over the course of his 20-year career. Shad won the Juno Award for Rap Recording Of The Year in 2011 and five of his albums have been shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize for Canadian Album Of The Year, the most shortlist nominations of any artist in the prize’s history. Shad has also served as a broadcaster, hosting CBC Radio's Q and Netflix’s Emmy and Peabody Award-winning series Hip-Hop Evolution, and has taught hip-hop-related courses at both Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Toronto.
