In March long time friend of the label, Neue Grafik, stepped forth with his most fully realised offering to date. 'Innervision' had been a long time coming, born out of a encounter in Paris back in 2016. The EP begins with the lysergic ebbs and flows of ‘Innervision’, in which Wayne Snow graces the record with a sublime vocal performance.

The record takes cues from the broken-beat sound of London while paying homage to the Parisian house dance scene. Largely sample based, but also employing much more live instrumentation than ever before, Neue Grafik’s music is informed by movement and in turn offers so much for Dancers to respond to.

Some record labels we hold in particularly high regard, and Brighton-based WOLF Music Recordings is absolutely one of them. Forty-nine releases deep since its 2009 birth, WOLF’s catalogue is artistically diverse and made up only of high quality musical produce.

Needless to say, we’ve premiered some WOLF music before, so we’re excited to again have premiere rights to some of their music. This time, we’ve got the A3 track, Keep it H 2000, of their 46th EP, Pedro and Jenna Camille’s This Is What I’m Going Through.

The record features five tracks spanning predominantly jazz and house, scattered and sometimes covered with broken beat and more experimental elements.

Keep it H 2000 brings the voice of Washington DC’s Jenna Camille’s to the fore. This track is probably the EP’s quintessential crossover point between jazz and house. Jenna’s light and amicable voice is held up by the intricate percussion, smooth keys and bass and playful synth melodies of her production partner from Porto, Pedro.

The track is almost straight jazz until toward the end when an off-beat hi-hat cuts a whole new groove into the rhythm, lifting the song out of a smokey jazz-club atmosphere and into something lighter and house-driven.

Special mentions are due to the last two tracks on the record: B1 shows off Pedro’s stylish production skills, while the experimental flare of the EP shines through the ultimate track in its short but sweet 80 seconds. Due for release on July 20, you can bank on this being another notable notch in WOLF’s musical belt.

What tune we've got for you today. Kerem has been catching the attention of many tastemakers recently with his funk laden, heavily swung grooves. Giving people like Andrés and Theo Parrish a run for their money 'Turkey's most soulful' sure knows his way round a synth or two. Harmonized neo-soul vocals melt sweetly with Kerem's P-Funk basslines and Detroit styled lead lines. Be sure to cop the rest of the V.A this is part of!

Reginald Omas Mamode IV - 400 Years

MIMS is delighted to premiere “Come Inside”, the second single lifted from Italian pianist, composer and producer, Nicola Guida’s forthcoming ‘Speleology’ album, due for release early next year on Inner Circle Music, the prestigious US label headed by sax legend Greg Osby. 

“Come Inside” is a laid back exploration of jazz and hip hop, featuring Karnival Kid on MC duties. His nonchalant yet powerful delivery recalls Loyle Carner, and flows beautifully over Guida’s delicate playing, melting the notes of his piano into a seamless harmonic stream. Soothing flutes provide the melodic line throughout, with additional production adding layers of sonic richness.

A disciplined virtuoso and a freethinking, genre-bending pianist, Nicola Guida is a London-based Italian jazz pianist, composer and producer. Academician at heart - he's the author of two respected thesis on jazz and holds a Masters in Philosophy. On “Come Inside”, Nicola tells us "I'm so delighted to release this tune which contains a sample of one of my heroes, legendary Italian composer Piero Piccioni".

“Come Inside” will be released on November 27 on all digital platforms.
