[This playlist compiles 'STORAGE SPACE' & 'STORAGE SPACE - MAX CAPACITY: B-SIDES' together in one deluxe experience.]

About the project: 
I began crafting what would become the 'Storage Space' project in November of 2020, with the intro track 'Factory Reset'. At that time the scope of the project was unclear but I knew I wanted that song to be an intro to something.

Almost a year later, in September of 2021, I was tasked by DESKPOP to create a cool and unique single for one of their infamous various artists compilations, 'DESKPOP: GREEN VERSION'. That single wound up being 'Storage Space 1'. I recall titling the track that even though I hadn't yet created any of the other 'Storage Space #' tracks, because by then I had a solid idea of the concept I wanted to go for. Each 'Storage Space #' track would be in the same key, and utilize recurring chords and melodies, albeit in a different time signature each time. 

It took a while before I was satisfied with the core tracks I wanted to feature on the album, and throughout that process, I wound up creating a number of other adjacent tracks that I felt matched the aesthetic I'd been trying to go for this time around. 

In spring of 2023, I was looking to put another tune out with a various artists compilation, which wound up being 'PEPSI® Blood'. Though late in the game, the addition of this track to the project sparked a final sprint where I was tying up all the loose ends, putting the whole release together and filling in the cracks. 

I'm proud to present this culmination of 2-3 years of work in one nifty playlist.

Pandavibrations - Expression (feat. GhostxMachine & Alexander Aultman) [Shay. Remix]

This instrumental cover kind of came out of the blue. I've always loved the version of the song featured in the 1965 film version of "The Sound of Music", sung by Julie Andrews, and used the vibes from my recent FUSION DANCE collab album (with @that-andy-guy ) & Study Buddy album as sonic blueprints for the direction I wanted to take this cover in. I also was heavily influenced by the works of my friend @sylcmyk !

I've been working on this record for the better part of 3+ years. Much of the over-all concept was born out of a response to things related to the COVID-19 pandemic, either with themes of 'Escapism' and 'Isolation' (and the comfort that can come with it at times), or wanting to mentally remove myself to a safe space away from reality, as well as binge-watching trash TV with my partner, like 'Love Island', which definitely inspired the album cover and some of the track titles (such as 'Villa Dreamin'). Aesthetically there's also some loose nods to the liminal spaces present in "Hyperbolic Time Chamber" vibes from 'DBZ', the digital world as depicted in the 'Digimon' movie from the 90's, and my love for Pokemon (with 'Rare Candy'). I hope you enjoy this journey from start to finish!

Recently got back in touch with my love for Modeselektor, Apparat, and their combined project, Moderat. The dudes are musical geniuses in their own right, but together they make some of the most beautiful electronic music I've ever heard. I chose 'A New Error' to remix, partially because it may just be my favorite of theirs, though it's hard to say, but also because I felt it would also work best with my sound. Holographic Kiss

Local music/piano teacher and mother of 2, Rachel Mayer, always wanted to release her own original pop songs. During the pandemic, she finally took to putting some of those concepts down and released a handful of poppy singles. A few years later, and Rachel has become a frequent shopper at the local grocery co-op that I work at. I saw an ad for her 'latest single' on the back of her car, checked it out on one of my walks home from work, and liked what I heard, so I reached out to her about the idea of me doing a remix for her track 'Dragonfly'. She was very supportive and enthusiastic towards the idea, and so I got busy. Something about her vocal style, or perhaps the nature of her voice, reminded me of classic 90's house tracks my oldest brother and Mom used to play when I was growing up, and so I did my best to capture that vibe for my remix. We hope you enjoy this new rendition on Rachel's track, and be sure to check out her original works, and stay tuned for more!
