After hanging up his originally chosen DJ name 'Sharokh Sound of K', the cheerful German DJ Shahrokh Dini enraptures many a dance floor under his birth name. Since the 90s he has been making waves with his deep house sets that make trips to Detroit house, disco and more progressive styles. Every summer he can be found behind the decks of well-known clubs in Ibiza such as Sunset Ashram and Las Dalias and he also has various residencies in his home base Berlin.

His own music productions have been released on record labels such as Sasse's Moodmusic, Miss Moneypenny Records and Compost Records Black Label, and have been played by established fellow DJs including Âme, Maceo Plex, Solomun and Ron Trent. In addition to his love for making and playing music, Sharokh has also set up and run several clubs and events, such as his club “Monk” in Karlsruhe, Germany, where he partly grew up.

3 QUESTIONS to ELIF:
Q: What a huge storyteller. Guess you could have mixed 300+ tracks. So why did you choose these tracks now and what did they mean to you once and still mean to you today? 

A: Thank youuu! I have been a fan of this brilliant podcast series for some time and it's a huge honor to be invited. So, yes, it was a big process to record this mix, a very special one for me, especially to decide on which tracks I wanted to include in it. And the thought process behind it. I think I can say that I have never put so much thought in another mix I have recorded. The story of How I Met The Bass definitely received very special attention from me. I tried to include as many influences as I could, but like you said, I could easily make a 10 hour mix. The elimination process happened with the flow of the story, and obviously I had to leave out so many other amazing tracks that shaped my musical understanding today. But these are still a good representation of my musical influence and I am happy with the journey I created. 

Q: How would you describe your own musical development since you first got in touch with Electronic Music? 

A: It is very similar to me, how I am as a person, I would say. Changing and evolving all the time, while keeping the very core of it untouched. A little bit like having that something special that hits the spot in common in so many different forms.

Q: What projects are you currently working on and what can we expect from you soon? 

A: I am obsessively and enthusiastically working on my new label: Marginalia. I am excited to create a platform to support, nurture and develop the incredible output of the producers whose music I have been playing all over the world over the past years. The concept of Marginalia itself dates back to the 11th Century and references the wildly inventive notes, markings, doodles and sketches made in the margins of medieval books and scriptures — a place where the human imagination was free to run wild. To translate this age-old creative even witty tradition into a twenty-first century paradigm, I am looking forward to hopefully and humbly giving back to the incredible pool of artists I admire and think deserve more recognition. The first release should come around September. Non-stop touring and creating a passion project at the same time is already taking lots of my time, yet I try to also produce whenever I have the time & inspiration. So we can expect lots of fresh music!

When the Temple burns, we bury a part of ourselves. 

We remember. We cry. We smile. And we move forward. 

A beautiful moment of eternity. Something intimate. Sometimes hard. Somehow sacred.

Playing on the Robot Heart bus after the Temple Burn has become an annual tradition for me.  It's a very special moment emotionally.  But this one was the toughest.  For many reasons...

But in the end, this closing opened the door to something bigger.

I am forever grateful for what happened afterward. Family for life. Unforgettable. All love.

got great and massive commendation for his album "Dripping Point" in magazines like De Bug, Groove, Raveline, XLR8R, DJ Magazine a.o. Well, it's time to look forward Purveyor to the house royals and regalness, Shahrokh Dini has got an atttracted widespread support througout his long long career as a DJ and true house producer. He frequently plays every summer on Ibiza, and has Berlin residencies. He had releases on various labels like Sasse’s Moodmusic, Miss Moneypenny Records, and with a boast of enviable releases on Compost Black Label he was supported by Âme, Ron Trent, Jimpster, Dimitri From Paris, Rainer Trueby, Laurent Garnier, Boo Williams, Glenn Underground, Solomun, Frankey & Sandrino, Agoria, Olderic, Maceo Plex, Steve Bug and many many others.
By the way, Shahrokh Dini is not only a house producer and DJ, he is running clubs since the mid 90ties, frequently he promotes bigger club-music events, he has various DJ residencies, and his own club called „Monk“ in his hometown Karlsruhe. In the past he engaged artists such as Metro Area, Kevin Saunderson and Amé for various events for the Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe ZKM, the latter proving his nose for talent as he had sourced them as residents at “Electric Mood” already in their early years. Adding to that Shahrokh now curates and runs the after party of the massive art fair "art Karlsruhe"  in collaboration with the State Theater once a year. 
As a producer, Shahrokh worked with international talents such as Robert Owens, 
Tikiman (Basic Channel-Detroit) Barbara Tucker, Nathan McLau und Jaime Lloyd vom Label Future Classic. Whilst Shahrokh considers Compost his home and family base for his various releases he also collaborated with Strictly Rhythm and Ministry Of Sound.
